Im a RPwhore and not afraid to admit it! :D

We'll see....

Eveyone gets at least ONE vice:D

Does RPwhore count as a vice . . .? I guess it just comes down to weither you have the money to indulge or not!:D

Yeah.. but then, we can just use company money to buy them and write it off as a business expense =). Seriously, though, has anyone noticed how many people already have mentioned that their books are falling apart? Our PHB has come apart from the binding, and we've had it for about a year. Compare that with my 2E PHB, which I've had for 10 years or so, and while it's a littl beat up, it's still in good shape. Whatever they include in these new books, I hope to all the gods of crafting that they find a decent binder this time, or shell out a little more money to make something that won't fall apart after a year of moderate use.

PHB condition

I think the 1st printing had a glue problem. If that's what you have that might be the reason its sad. That or WotC is just a bunch of cheap bastards who planned on - nay brother counted on your need to replace the book after shuch a short time ( I think it's the former, rather then the latter);)

I really have to wonder how you guys are tearing your books up already! ;)
I think mine are kinda beat up because I leave them open too often with another book on top of it which is no good for the binding. I actually checked with my library's binding department for how much it would cost to rebind it and it wasn't worth it. But my DMG & MM are in good condition. However, a few of the illustrations in my DMG are darkened and look bad. Oh well.

We'll see. I'll wait to hear the reaction of the folks here. Also, it depends on how much of a problem it would be if my players still have the old ones, and I use the new one. I guarantee that my players won't spring for another copy so soon. We just started playing in August, and so their PHBs are all new. Well, one player hasn't purchased hers yet. She's using my first printing copy, while hubby & I share the second printing. I can't imagine buying a new MM. The one I have is perfectly adequate. And as for the DMG, it depends on what new stuff has been added. I don't care so much about magic items and prestige classes, but if there are new/improved rules and explanations for things that look useful to me, then I'll probably pick that one up.

I've never clicked 'yes' quicker...

Me too!!

First of all, I'm an addict and I know that I'll need a good core rules fix by then.

That aside, I love the improvements to the d20 system that came with d20 modern, and I'm hoping WotC can do something similar for D&D...

I answered yes. I am inclined to say no, but I know myself better than that. I'll end up buying them. The question is, will the players in my group buy the new PHB? I dunno.

In all likelyhood, I'll read the reviews and watch the chatter here. Then sometime early in 2004, I'll try to pick them up off of ebay for 2/3 or 1/2 of the cover price.

I will of course by it. for several reasons.

Cost to Pleasure ratio is pretty high. I got a lot of fun out of my D&D books for the past 2-3 years since 3rd edition came out. I think this will only continue with new books.

Having designed home brew games, I know ona personal level how hard it is to make a game as near perfect as possible. I have seen crappy game designs and I am sorry if others disagree but 3rd edition did a darn fine job overall. The fact they can do a few revisions and fixes and still be backward compatible proves this to me.

My books are in fine shape, despite the useage. (Been lucky in all editions from boxed set on I guess) but having a second set doesn't bother me, I can pass them on to someone else or throw them in the closet with all my other unused games, that I don't regret buying (With afew minor exceptions).

I'm not rolling in money but I do support the hobby I love and the Game I like. I want it to continue. That is simple enough reason for me to get them in and of itself.
