I am currentlly running a Oriential Adventures campaign the will be wrapping up in a few sessions. That is staying 3.0 and it will probablly be 3.0 if/when we begin part 2.

In Dr Nuncheon's Freeport campaign We are going to be (sorta already have) switching to 3.5. We can make minor changes. we were on hiatus between part 2 and part 3 (while I ran my OA campaign) and decieded to let the hiatus last a little longer for 3.5

3.5 All the way....

Yep, our group has all bought the new 3.5 PH and will be converting our characters to 3.5 over the next couple of weeks, without interupting play. We all agree that there is so much more to offer the roleplayer in 3.5 and a greater clarification of rules, that it seemed IOHO an obvious transition of the game. Personally, I have all the new 3.5 books and think they are all brilliant, well formatted and great Artwork..."WOR" one of the Artists, Rocks !!! But I do have some issues over some rules, Prestige classes...What is up with the Mystic Theurge ? and spells and magic items, that would be ironed out in House Rules. But as they are so inconsequential to the overall 3.5 experience, they did not influence my own decision or that of our players to make the change over to 3.5. In a nut shell it was a No Brainer !!!! Just my 2 Copper Pieces.....Peace All.

My home game has switched to 3.5 but since we also play a lot of Living Greyhawk via the RPGA we're stuck with 3.0 until the end of October. I think the "Man, if we were playing 3.5 we'd be..." comments are going to get worse and worse in the next few weeks.

Check out the SRD and read the 3.5 debates here on the EN boards. Everything you see about 3.5 that you like, you try to add to your game. Everything you liked better in 3.0, you just keep.

If, after a while, you find that you're using a lot of the 3.5 changes, just pick up the PHB and/or MM at that point (DMG optional, though I'd recommend it).
This way, you won't have to re-learn all at once and you won't waste any money if you find that you aren't using very much 3.5 after all.

So... How's that sound? :)

Well, Darkness, I think those are all good suggestions. The problem is that I've already taken them and I'm still undecided.

One of the guys I game with already bought the PHB and DMG and loaned them to me so I could check them out. I've been actively reading all the 3.5 debates and some I think are very much for the better (I like most of the character class changes), some are for the worse (1 min/level buff spells would be far better at 10 min/level and you should be able to charge through a friendly space), and a great many I don't care much about but didn't seem like they needed changing (lots of other spells and the weapon-size thing).

So what I'm saying is that adopting 3.5 definately won't make our games worse. But I also don't know that they are going to be vastly improved and it is very questionable to me whether it is worth the money or time it will take to make the switch.

I haven't had a chance to fully look over the rules but they sound good so far. I'll be switching over for the next campaign I run.

Assuming, of course, I like the rules I haven't read yet.

I suppose on balance our games will be 3.5, since the amount of houserules, 3rd party, and possibly Modern stuff will equal or pass the 3.0 holdovers. At least for the PHB-related rules, I'm not sure how much of the new MM is going to be incorporated.
