For all of us in the US: Happy Vetran's Day! Are you off work? I have a job where my off days are normally Friday and Saturday so nothing special for me, but of my friends and family I think only my mother (who works for the State) is actually off work today.

I've been off every day for the last 6 weeks. I'm on the bench. I'm a consultant between assignments. So I've had a 6 week vacation. It's been really, really sweet. I moved and my wife had a baby. Perfect timing. But soon I might be unemployed unless my firm can find me a new job.

We're technically off today, but we could come in if we wanted to. I didn't especially WANT to, but I'm moving this weekend so my finances demand my presence today.

I have no more PTO, having used it all previously for reason associated with the baby and with hurricane damage to our house.

I moved and my wife had a baby.

I bet if you ask, she'll say that you both had a baby.

The bank that I work for is mostly closed, but as we have a nationwide project deployment this weekend, my team is in today and all weekend long...

I had election day off, and I get next Monday off. My company works or doesn't according to the local GM Assembly Plant schedule. For some stupid reason GM doesn't like losing 2 days worth of production in one week, they still lose two days of production for the month in addition to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Well I only have the day off because I am inbetween jobs right now. But by this time next week I will find out if I landed a job at a local credit union.

Not only am I at work, I'll probably have to work over the weekend as well.
