Arkham Horror

I've played it a few times, it's quite fun and I'd highly reccommend it. A member of my gaming club has it and has brought it to games as a "in case we don't have enough people to play D&D" game, where it has functioned admirably in that role.

One thing I like (besides being cooperative, I much prefer cooperative board games over competitive ones) is how much one game changes from another. The various Great Old Ones each change the game in many ways, and the significant differences in the investigators means that the game has a lot of replay value. It also is really good at capturing a Cthuhlu feel.

Great game! What I really like about it is that each game is different because you have a different BBEG and you have different special powers/items for your invesitgators. It's also beautiful to look at, with lots of evil goodness.

I got the new version cheap at a convention. So far I have only played it solo, but it has been great! I have not won a game yet but I don't feel like I will never be able to.

Even just playing solo I think I have spent my money well.

I've played it thrice. The rulebook isn't very intuitively orginized, but the game is a lot of fun. I rather like the fact that its more of a cooperative exercise between the players to "beat the game" rather than outdo each other. Anyone with some boardgame experience should be able to pick this one up fairly quickly, and if you're Cthulhu fan...I'd say its worth getting your hands on.

It's nearly impossible to beat solo, IMO, because the gates open up too fast. It's not so bad in multi-player games.
