ARSENAL Sneak Peek #2: TANGLER AUTOCANNON

The first release from Perpetrated Press, ARSENAL, is a compendium of over 200 magical firearms, more than 100 different explosives, eight new types of technomagically advanced armor, 36 new armor abilities, and 12 specific suits of armor. Supporting this bewildering array of weaponry are two new prestige classes (the sniper and the gunman), more than 10 new feats and 20 new spells, campaign and class suggestions, a game balance discussion, combat options, and the finest quality artwork around!

ARSENAL will be released in late November.

THIS WEEK'S SNEAK PEEK ! – Tangler autocannon

Weapon: Tangler Autocannon
Save DC: Ref damage
Damage per setting: d12
Maximum setting: 10
Charges per setting: 4
Critical: x2
Range increment: 50
ROF: 1
Weight: 55 lbs

Sometimes referred to as the leaf blower, due to its strange appearance, the tangler autocannon is often used by law enforcement officials to capture felons, subdue violent perpetrators, or quell mobs.

The tangler autocannon fires an expanding mass of bright orange goo that immobilizes the target. Unlike other firearms, the tangler does not inflict hit point damage. Instead, the result of the "damage" roll sets the DC for the target's Reflex save to resist the effects. If the target succeeds at the save, there is no effect. If the target fails the save, he is entangled. If he fails the save by 5 or more he is also anchored.

An entangled creature suffers a -2 penalty to attack rolls and a -4 penalty to effective Dexterity. If he is anchored, he cannot move. Otherwise, he can move at half speed, but can't run or charge. An entangled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a Concentration check (DC usually 15) or lose the spell.
Entangled creatures can break free by using a full round action to make a Strength Check or an Escape Artist check (DC 20).

Next week's sneak peak will present one of the many divine firearms listed in ARSENAL.

Hmmmm... I like this one

I dig this gun. It's always nice having non-lethal options to harass the players with.

Just some need for clarification:

is maximum setting the maximum amount of ammo the gun can carry?

Is the charges per shot the amount of ammo it uses per shot?

Robotron666 is:

non-lethal, in that incapacitiating kind of way.

setting info

Robotron,

The setting is how many dice of the given type the weapon does in damage.

In this case, the tangler autocannon can be set from 1 to 10. If set to 8, for instance, it will do 8d12 damage. YOIKS! For the tangler, the damage roll sets the DC for the Reflex save. Autocannon are the most powerful non-explosive firearms in the book.

The Charges Per Setting is how many charges are expended per shot per setting. The tangler would use 32 charges to do 8d12 damage. Technomagic firearms use arcane batteries that contain a given number of charges. There are several different sizes of batteries available.
