Art: Bloodfury Savage: Since when do half-orcs shave their pits.

No they don't. They don't HAVE milk. That was added after the fact.

Timeline:

Dragonborn have breasts. People go "Uhhh what. They're lizards that lay eggs."

Dragonborn are told to have milk. People go "Uhhh what. They still lay eggs."

Dragonborn are now apparently platypi. People go "You really don't know how this works, do you?"
Does it really matter that much? I mean, do round things on the chest of female humanoids really call for that much analysis and criticism?

I really think it's unwise to apply real-world biology and genetics to fantasy. I really do. I mean, we're talking about dragons, for Pete's sake. A creature like that simply wouldn't work with "real" biology. The people going "Uhhh what?" in your timeline were, for the most part, people who wanted to apply real-world science to D&D. There were also a lot of people who never gave it a second thought, or just said, "Yeah, whatever. They've got boobs. So?"

But if you really need a "plausible" explanation, then just imagine that female dragonborn have extra-large pecs or extra fat stores in that area because male dragonborn also find boobs attractive. Or maybe they're just mammals with scales on. It's only a big deal if you choose make it one.

I find it odd that I'm being called out for "analyzing" it when my posts are far smaller compared to others here. I'm not the one analyzing it.

Criticizing? Of course. The breasts are uncreative and dumb. The exist purely for the sake of pandering. Most female gamers I know think they're uncreative and dumb, and exist purely for the sake of pandering as well. They, to put it lightly, do not like it.

My argument isn't about FANTASY BIOLOGY so go ahead and put that strawman away. My argument is against being uncreative and dumb, existing purely for the sake of pandering. If you can make an argument about that then by all means, but I haven't been seeing it.

I'm wit h ProfessorCirno here. I'm not fond of games where things are there just because "magic explains".

In a game of mine you won't expect to see breasts on a Dragonborn as much as you won't see a beholder in a room, kobolds in another and humans in a third one. Frankly, that just doesn't make sense and if I were a Dragon God I'd create dragonborn in my image, not humans...

A matter of game taste, that's all.

And most female gamers I know think it's stupid for people to tell them they can't have attractive female avatars. So obviously our experiences are vastly different and it's silly for either of us to make generalizations.

This, right here, captures how most female gamers I've encountered tend to think about this sort of thing. It's not how I think. I'd be just as inclined to see dragonborn breastless as breasted. Frankly, I don't care. What I do care about is people levelling ungrounded charges against WOTC and implying that dragonborn are just there as semi-pornographic fan service.

Pandering? I would think that the portion of gamers titillated by breasts with the texture of a high-end handbag attached to giant muscular lizard people to be passing small (though I'm sure it exist).

Really how many people do you think take a look at a picture of a female dragonborn and go, "Damn, look at the pair on that one!" Well other than to complain on the internet.

The only thing I've gleaned from this thread is that people would much rather talk about Dragonborn breasts than naked Orc pits.

To be honest, neither is a really great topic.

The Shiere Knight on p.26 looks neat, though, and the female Dwarfen Shaman on p.118 also looks promising *paging Rel*), the Dragonsoul Heir isn't that bad either (just to remind us why it's important to use Charisma as an attack stat).

There is more than that... Why talk about Half Orc armpits or Dragonboobs?

Because someone is wrong on the internet.

The Shiere Knight does not look like a Knight though . . . more like a half-naked elf chick (and she sure did not look like one of the most powerful mages in Faerun which was the original intention).
