Artificer: Infusion - Question.

I recently started playing an artificer, and I was going through their infusion list. Most of them make sense as to how I would use them, but how, and in what situation, could Wall of Iron be used as an infusion?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe wall or iron needs a lump of iron to work. The infusion would work by infusing the lump of iron.

Would that then turn the lump of iron into a wall of iron?

No in tis case the infusion basically "stores" the spell it doesn't "cast it"
