Ashin's Commission: The Great Escape!

Hp 18 / 18, AC 14

If the tunnel is wide enough for two large creatures to move side by side (seems to be), Almayce casts Enlarge Person (4 minutes) at Hulgyr. If not, he'll cast it at the door if it still leaves room for people to bash it. He also converts Detect Magic and Read Magic to heal himself.

At the door, he takes out the wand he identified earlier.

OOC: Just making sure here, but did you remember to note that Almayce has Mage Armor on when the afflicted hit him (I know they can still easily hit him even with that, so sorry if you did)? And I assume the wand is a wand of Web (you didn't confirm), but how many charges does it have left?

(OOC: There was indeed room in the tunnel for two Large creatures, so you would have cast it, but unfortunately, there is not enough room for two Large creatures at the door ;) I'll assume Ironwolf attacks and then moves back for Hulgyr next round, which means that technically Ironwolf and Michael both get to act again before the above attack from Hulgyr. We can still count it though. I will assume that they keep bashing and roll the attacks for expediency's sake.

Also, yup, I know that Almayce has on his Mage Armour. It actually means they have an off-chance of missing him, but unfortunately, that particular attack did still hit.

As for the wand, I forget--did he cast Identify on it?)

*Hulgyr needs some space to move in, so he waits for a moment. Michael bashes and hits, but his bash is quite weak compared to usual, and it doesn't harm the door. Ironwolf, on the other hand, slams into it again and the cracks begin to spread all throughout the door like a tiny intricate spiderweb, but the door still holds strong.*

(OOC: Damage so far would be 22 + 31 + 30 - 3 * hardness)

*Then Ironwolf backs up to let in Hulgyr, and Hulgyr gives the door his patented incredibly mighty Hulgyr bash, and the cracks grow deeper, with little thin chips of stone flying off the surface at the point of contact. The door is still fairly solid, though, but they are definitely making excellent progress. Michael attacks again and again tiny chips fly where his club strikes home. Then Hulgyr takes an incredibly powerful swing, and the cracks grow deep, spreading all the way through the door to the other side. For the first time, despite the magics protecting it, the door shakes and quavers with the strength of that blow. Hulgyr also takes a second swipe with almost zero accuracy behind it, but such is the overwhelming strength of the blow that it scores anyway. The pieces of the door begin to shatter, and the area where he struck would have blown off completely if not for the magic holding it together. He then takes a five foot step back (he had been attacking from reach) so that Ironwolf can move in and attack. Ironwolf's powerful sword causes the stone to simply crumble, but the crumbled pieces, held together by magic, still cling to their places and protect the entry. One more blow should do it, and it is Michael's turn.*

(OOC: I'll let you guys do the honours of the last strike. It has taken 3 rounds at the door, and this is the 4th)

*Also, as the door seemed to mostly fractured and finished off, Zaeryl summoned up a powerful Astral Construct, figuring that there might be something unfriendly on the other side of the door that could use some bashing. He is now in the middle of summoning a second.*

OOC: Posts 160 and 161 in this thread would indicate yes. Post 151 starts the no-material-component-for-domain-Identify -discussion.

(OOC: Ah, okey dokey. It is actually not a Wand of Web. It is a Wand of Poison. There are 38 charges left)
OOC: Oh well, probably less of an use now, but more value. Almayce will ready his crossbow instead then.

Michael looks at Ironwolf's and Hulgyr's mighty swords and compares them to his greatclub.
Suddenly he starts to feel...inadequate.

Fortunately, Michael's diseased brain has difficulty in tracking complex thoughts, so it doesn't last long.

He hits the door again, moving around people as necessary.

Michael and the door (1d20+4, 1d10+6+8=[2, 4], [7, 6, 8])

6 to hit, 21 damage. That really shouldn't have worked...

ooc: Eternity has:
Force Screen (manifested 1 minute prior to combat)
Vigor stone (5 temp hit points, manifested 1 minute prior to combat)
She manifests Animal Affinity +4 Con while waiting for the door to come down.
pp: 19/58, hp: 31/65 (+5temp), con: 20, fort: +7, AC: 17

(OOC: 6 is exactly enough. It has -5 from Dex, -1 from Size. an additional -2 for being inanimate, and +4 natural. Also, it had exactly 5 HP left :))

*Michael's club, though small compared to the others, just barely smashes down the remaining stone shards, which collapse to the ground as Zaeryl's second construct flashes and coagulates into existence out of gooey Astral stuff.*

*The room, as it turns out, is a massive treasure vault, easily hundreds of feet across. The party's light wouldn't normally be enough to see the whole thing, but fortunately the place is magically lit with strange eddying faerie fire lights of various colours, which makes the following tableau look as if it was viewed through a rainbow prism, or perhaps in disco rainbow-coloured strobe lights:*

*First of all, there are piles of gold and art objects, items, and junk all around the room. They may have been in order before, but they have clearly been ransacked and searched, or they are in the process of such. Perhaps the searchers were the twelve large Afflicted arrayed within, set in a formation that maintains a blockade while also staying spread out enough to limit (though not eliminate) the effect that area magic could have on them (even a 20 foot radius could only hit five of them and then if placed absolutely optimally).*

*In the back, about one hundred feet behind these troops are three normal-looking humans who look on at the brewing battle with interest. They seem to have poor Aglaia, the priestess of Hyrag from town, chained to the wall and beaten and whipped, her holy symbol of Hyrag around her neck shattered, and her vestments ripped and ruined.*

*In the back of the room is a large ornate pedestal, which is empty. Those who use Psionics notice a strange psychic resonance that makes manifesting easier.*

(OOC: I'll assume everyone who wasn't acting has delayed, so every single character in the fight except Michael (who just went) and Ironwolf and Hulgyr (who go after this) will act in order of Initiative Bonus.

Also, Erekose--I need to know right away whether you plan on retiring Eternity after this adventure. I have a graceful and interesting way for you to do that if you want, but it requires making a change early in the fight.

All psionic characters--your powers temporarily cost 1 point less. This also allows you to pay 1 more if you like and still be within your manifester limit)
