Aspiring shadowlord needs advice

Hi
I'm new to D&D, have played like 10 sessions so far, and since our DM had the 3.5 books we started on that. Im a rogue 5/1 fighter so far and aiming for the Shadowlord Prestige. We got to lvl 7 last night and we now have to decide what to do. I had in mind getting one more lvl as fighter for the extra feat+attack bonus and that's what the DM suggested but i looked up some stuff and found out that if i get one lvl of Shadowdancer i can get the Hide in plain sight ability which will boost my sneaking alot, but i will NOT put more levels onto the shadowdancer. Its just for the Hide in plain sight.

I talked about this with the DM and he said there are some major problems with that decision. a) I will lose the attack bonus for that level (since SHDancer has the bad one) which will eventually weaken me later. Also i'll be losing about 25% xp after some levels (with the multiple classes thing) except if i get the feat for extra favored class (i'm human so i already got one).

Also if i go for the fighter level, i am a bit stuck on what extra feat to get. I am between Staggering strike and Hamstring but that's mainly what i saw on the internet :S.

PS: The feats i have are Mobility,Dodge, Blind Fight, Spring attack (Shadowlord requirements). I have 2-wep fighting.
PPS: At lvl 8 i will probably spend it getting the Shadowalker template for the shadowlord and lvl 9 will be first shadowlord lvl.

Thanks in advance!

Unless your DM is using some sort of a house rule, you do not take an experience penalty for a Prestige class being out of balance per RAW (rules as written). Shadow dancer, Shadow lord are both prestige classes and thus do not need to be in balance. Only base classes count for this penalty for multiclassing.

The rogue 5 is out of balance with the fighter 1, but Rogue is you highest class, that makes it you favored class because your character is human.

Yeah you're right i found out about it. No problem with multiclass exp there and yes im human so i have favored class rogue right now no problem there. Still problems with Attack bonus since the party will be lvl 7 but i will have an attack bonus of a lvl 6 character.
