Assassins without spells

Mongoose also put out a series of those skinny, half-sized books detailing new character classes. One of them was a 20-level assassin base class, with no spells attached. I think the thing was like $3.00.

Well, the Executioner is a basically a combat-focused "rogue plus." It gets hefty SA (=rogue) plus various special crippling/hindering attacks and a 20th-level death attack-equivalent ability. However, it does require using the IH feat/trait system to maximize its abilities.

Check out the Knave . Its a rogue type base class with more than 140 special abilities you can select from to construct the exact type of character you want, just like a fighter selects feats. An assassin without spells is very easy to build with the Knave. Its even mentioned in the firt paragraph of the advertisment:
""Or maybe you would like to play an assassin with more special attacks and no spells,"

and Poison Use ought to be purchasable as a feat.

Poison Use is indeed one of the 140 special abilities that the Knave can choose from.

The Rat is wise indeed...

However even His great wisdom can do little for my foolishness. I'm a sucker for new rules and options... :)

It's all good. I agree that the rogue makes a fairly good assassin. The practical one is just slightly more specialized at the task.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far...

Does anyone knows if the Librum Equitis is for 3.0 or 3.5?

It's 3.0. The sum total of updating Practical Ones to 3.5 looks like replacing innuendo with bluff as a class skill.

I second the choice of single class Rogue. The only thing it really misses is the Death Attack, which you can anyway replace with some similar tactics or feats to improve ambush, or otherwise just use sneak attack.
