Augment Summoning

To touch on the balance issues metioned above- elementals (via swarm) with +4 str/con are NICE, yes- but they're hardly game-breaking... I mean... that's an extra +2 damage a hit- and an extra round, MAYBE, of hit points?

It's a nice feat if you summon, but there are more poweful feats out there.

Did you forward him just the answer, or the question and answer, or just tell him Sam gave a different answer?
I referred to my initial list of possibilities (see post #8, above). I told him that someone else submitted the same question and got answer #2 from Sam, compared to answer #1 which Chris gave me. I should have sent him your initial argument, but: 1) I had said earlier that I wasn't trying to protract a conversation with him, and 2) I hope to appeal to his sense of mystery by getting him to ask Sam what he was thinking. I hope things would be different if CustServ actually spoke to each other.

And thank you, Vorput, for addressing my question! I just haven't had to deal with major summoner-types before, and so I'm not familiar with the feats and spells. There's a druid in my campaign that occasionally throws down a dire bear, or the cleric an osyluth or elemental, but really summoning is quite rare with my group.

CustServ responds again

Chris got back to me:

Actually... Sam is correct. We chatted about this... sorry for the confusion.

Well, let's put it this way: If you're afraid of Augment Summoning, then stay far away from Greenbound Summoning from Lost Empires of Faerun!

I'm pretty sure the author of that feat showed up on the boards a while back to say there was an editing problem and it didn't turn out as intended.

I can definitely believe that. The template it gives to all your summoned creatures is utterly ridiculous compared to Augment Summoning (as it includes greater stat bonuses in total to Str and Con, stat bonuses to other stats, and many other special abilities)

Yeah - it was originally submitted as a metamagic feat with a level adjustment. I can't recall what the adjustment was, but since most druids cast their SNAs spontaneously, the metamagic turns it into a two full round action spell.

Get the level adjustment right, and it's a far more balanced feat.

So the only core spell this ruling applies to is elemental swarm then? Or am I missing some? (I'm not generally a "summoner" player, but I am a rules ninja)

Found my own answer (thank you Sage and Sovelior SRD!)

Mount
Elemental Swarm
Various Swarm-Related Spells

The rest all move objects, so they don't really count anyways for this issue.

Eh......Heros of Horror......

How does impoved con help Summon Undead I-IV? Wouldn't giving a con bonus to summoned undead make them.......ah...ummm........nonundead on arrival?
