Augmented Healing? (White Mage PrC)

I think the Fast Healing may still be too strong. Fast Healing is an amazingly powerful ability, really. Perhaps you could replace it with the ability to heal herself a few points (1 per two levels as above?) for free as a standard action. This means that out of battle, there's no need to waste spells on healing herself, and that in battle, she can give herself a little boost if in dire straights (what my players wouldn't do to have such an ability... I have this knack for bringing them down to just a few HP)

Hmmm. Jester and all the rest - do you consider Damage Reduction more balanced than Fast Healing?
Hugely.

Damage reduction only works against weapons and only works once per attack. Fast healing is scary good. Even the Warlock (master of unlimited abilities) only gets it for a short duration (2 minutes once a day).

Hmm. Guess I'm just getting mixed signals. The people on the Monte Cook board are all in favor of fast healing.

Still, maybe it's possible to compromise. How does fast healing 1 and damage reduction 4/evil sound, when all's said and done? Will that work?

Damage Reduction is less powerful than Fast Healing is less powerful than Regeneration, in more or less the same degrees. Fast Healing is like DR that works retroactively to previous hits when all the recent damage has been absorbed. It's DR++.

I personally still prefer free healing (self only) that takes up an action to use. You can heal yourself, OR heal others, OR do something else. The cost would really balance the ability. But FH1 isn't quite so bad. As for DR, compare with the barbarian as for recieving such things. I'd just about say that FH1 is a powerful enough ability on its own, and stacking DR on top of that is too much. FH1 alone isn't enough to make the class worthwhile though, so something else should take the place of the DR, IMHO.

Sorry, but did you look at Complete Divine's Radiant Servant of Pelor? I get that we're talking about a Sorceror, here, but the RSoP is perhaps the most absurdly unbalanced healing class out there, but does almost exactly what you're looking for, healing wise. You can build on it and rewrite it as necessary, removing its extra turning abilities to be a "hardier" base type, granting DR in exchange for Turns, etc.
