August '08 - What are you playing?

PC: Neverwinter Nights twice a week (and building a new campaign in the toolset), plus the occasional Company of Heroes skirmish.

360: Rock Band, and various XBLA titles. I was playing the Tiger Woods 07 game that I bought someone else as a gift, :o so I'm thinking of picking up the 09 version when it comes out later this month.

Well, my stint with Civilization Revolutions is done. Got all the XBox achievements except for the ones on deity setting, which were just too much of an exercise in frustration to bother with. Wish they'd spread the achievements around a bit more.

Now it's a waiting game. Waiting for Too Human next week, which will probably be pretty good.

Then at the end of the end of month it's Mercenaries 2, which may well be the best co-op sandbox game ever.

Been burned on RPG's lately, but Infinite Undiscovery looks like it'll be worth a try, despite the stupid name.

After that, there's a little game you might have heard of called Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

And then comes October, god help XBox 360 gamers everywhere. Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Fable 2, Saints Row 2, Dead Space, Fracture, and so many more.

Too many more, in fact. Game publishers are so damn dumb. Console gamers spent the majority of the year in a vast wasteland of no AAA titles. So many of them were paralyzed with terror at the thought of competing with GTA IV that they tried to give themselves months worth of breathing room. They all wound up hovering around October, and didn't want to push back any farther so that they could cash in on the holiday season. But if everybody's saturating the market during the holiday season does that really work?

So in summary: right now playing nothing, next week playing Too Human, in two months will be hoping for some awful injury so that I can live off of disability for a few months at least.

Soul Calibur IV...and Soul Calibur on Xbox Live.

Civ IV every week online with a friend.

Still rocking out on Rock Band, can't wait for RB2!

And WiiFit every day. 25 lbs and counting since I picked that up.

Soul Calibur IV. Mixed feelings about it, really. Haven't had time to play anything else, unfortunately.

I'm hoping for a *lot* more dlc, especially in certain areas. Apart from any other reason, I (actually, we) unlocked everything within a few days. Time will tell, I suppose.

I just beat Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the rift, followed by a record pace, for me at least of Final Fantasy IV. I had never actually beat it on the super nintendo so it was good to see the ending but I question the replay value of New Game + when the first run was so easy. Each successive run makes it that much easier as characters get to keep any augments you gave them, such as level lust that doubles experience points gained for all characters. Except for a game like Chrono Trigger with oodles of different endings I question the new game+ option in any RPG.

At the moment I am in an unfortunate holding pattern on video games. Next month though it'll start up strong. Force Unleashed in September, Highlander in October, Fall Out 3 in November, and then Final Fantasy 13 and 13 VS in December.
