August 2nd Northern California Game Day- Memories on Page 3

Hi :) I'm the wife of Reapersaurus. I'll be there tomorrow too, so if there is anything anyone needs, I'm happy to be a runner for ya all. :)

Debating on starting a new thread or what, but I'll just post again here.

I had a good time, I think the first NorCal game day was pretty much a success. Only two things I really regret:

1) Leaving earlier than I had intended originally. Pining for my girlfriend (we've only been together for a couple weeks), just pulled me away. I would have liked to played in bloodymage's game.

2) Not playing in the Monster Island demo. Looked like fun.

Props to Tsunami and bloodymage for getting the whole thing going, and to everyone else for showing up. I'll be getting out those prizes as soon as I get the info back from bloodymage.

The whole experience made me really wish I was gaming regularly again. Overall, I give it a B-, and am looking forward to the next one.

I had a blast! I had fun running Mark's adventure for my group, although next time I think I'll make my own (I just do better running my own adventures).

Thanks for donating the adventure, Mark. The party bought a dog (who they named Scout), fought some bandits, and we all laughed a lot and had some fun.

Thanks a lot to the players! If I can recall correctly... to my right, closest to farthest, was Gunslinger, Rosco999, and AreonBlaze... while to my left was Mistergone and Reapersaurus. Great roleplaying, dudes. I liked your accent, Reapersaurus (John)!

The Monster Island Demo was a lot of fun, and my friend won the book as Alien. I was the classic Harryhausen Cylcops, and although I was able to ram Warbot into high heaven (and then throw his corpse at a few other monsters), I was defeated later on.

I was signed up for Loball's "Temple of Pazuzu" game, but Bloodymage (Steve) only had two players, so my friend Pebby (Dan) and I decided to try out AD&D. We fought a giant troglodyte, and barely survived encounters with a bodak and a dracolisk, and eventually ended up enthralled by a lady vamire. Thanks for running it, Steve! I had a great time!

It was fun meeting the faces behind all the names online. I hope to do it again!

Glad to hear it and thanks for running it! Don't forget to send an Email to me with the screen names and emails of the group that played in Questus - The Whispering Woodwind so I can send everyone a prize! :)

Yeah, Scout was a good dog... >sniffle<. Uhm, I was on your left, in the place of the second Gunslinger. ;) I think you got the real Gunslinger and AeronBlaze flipped. Otherwise, yeah, it was good fun. I would have liked to have found out what happened to the flute, and what was it's mysterious power.

Yeah, mistergone has it right. While playing in your game twice simultaneously would have been interesting, it might have ripped open space-time or something.

I had a whole lot of fun, even if we did get lost within a mile of the place (too many Ardens!!!). Too bad the Denny's didn't reserve us a spot, and couldn't get a table big enough for everyone to sit together.:(

The group I played with was great, and the adventure was fun (even if the end was a bit rushed). Overall I had a great time, and I'm looking forward to a sequel.

The gameday was indeed quite fun. :)

After finally managing to find Denny's and Great Escapes (you can't see me, but I'm shaking my fist at the streets of Sacremento right now), we had a nice breakfast at Denny's, albeit we were kind of split into three groups.

The store itself was awesome, and the fact that they don't shrinkwrap their books lead me to leaf through and then buy $100 worth of books.

Played in Tsunami's Whispering Woodwind game, and that was great. Tsunami did an awesome job DM'ing, and it was quite cool meeting/playing with mistergone and reapersaurus. Scout was a nice dog who bravely (attempted) to use his last breath to save us. He unfortunately missed his attack, but at least we ended up saving poor Kents, whom everyone in town was quite attached too. :)

While I would've loved to stay longer, myself, Rossco and Gunslinger had a two hour drive ahead of us. Nontheless, the day was a blast and next year I guess we can label it the "2nd Annual NorCal Game Day"? ;)

Lastly, was nice meeting all of you people (Tsunami, reapersaurus, mistergone, garyh, bloodymage). Tsunami, btw...you do indeed have myself and Gunslinger flipped, I was sitting to your right. :p

The Game Day was a great success. Mark, if you want to reward everyone who played in your CMG module, you'll need to get a hold of Tsunami and find out who was actually in it. I doubt you'll be able to get an electronic connection to all of them.

Breakfast at Denny's was great fun, though I think we'll choose another restaraunt next year. They weren't set up to handle a sizable group. We had two tables and two booths. Still, great fun and our waiter, Jerhico, was great. I was late. I rode with USGrant on the two hour drive and I had the embarrasment of making him turn around a half an hour into our trip to retrieve the module I'd forgotten.

Great Escapes is a great games shop with a fantastic gaming room. Our afternoon games both ran a bit over, so everyone had to stuff dinner down. The evening games started and Melan's (of Dragonsfoot) Temple had seven players. I ended up with two for the Lost Caverns! A couple dropped out, one never showed and two I had recruited during the day had parenting duties come up. So, I stole a couple of players from loball (Temple's DM) and gained a couple of converts in the process! Pebby, at the end of the game, who'd been playing 3e about a year, said he'd never played with a heartless DM before. :p "That's a compliment," he was quick to add. Lots of laughing, lots of fun.

There was an "MVP" selected by the players at each table. Whispering Woodwind produced Rossco999, who was awarded a $30 gift certificate from The Gamer's Bag. Graveyard Shift had Lucky, loball's 10-year old son, who wowed everyone with his savvy roleplaying. He selected $20 worth of gaming stuff from mistergone's private collection. The Temple's MVP was garyh, who went home with a $15 gift certificate from The Harlequin, my FLGS. Finally, ByteMe also got a $20 selection from mistergone's collection for his play in Lost Caverns.

So, thanks are in order to Tsunami who was the major organizer, Paladin and Paladinwife of The Gamer's Bag, Larry and Bob of The Harlequin Games and mistergone for providing prizes, Mark of CMG for providing support and his module, Whispering Woodwind. Thanks also to loball for running The Temple of Pazuzu (and bringing his great kids!) and HackJoe for writing and running Graveyard Shift. Credit goes to reapersaurus for arranging our venues in Sacramento. We even had a cool logo designed by garyh! Thanks to Great Escapes for having us and being a great place to play. Finally, a big thank you to all who signed up and showed up to have a fantastic day of gaming! :D

I had a blast meeting and gaming with everyone. Until next year, then...

[ Edit: AereonBlaze had the right of it. ]

Just letting ya' know that Rossco999 was the MVP for the Whispering Woodwinds (who did win the Gamers Bag certificate), and I think garyh was playing in Temple.

Tsunami and bloodymage - thanks for setting this up. Thanks to everyone (already metioned in bloodymage's post) who I never realized were behind this for all their hard work, and prizes awarded.

We (all three of us) had a great time. Lucky is already bugging me to start a HM campaign ;)

I'm looking forward to not waiting another year to have another one of these. Maybe we could make it every 3 or 6 months? :D

All for everyone in who played in the Temple of Pazuzu - thanks for putting up with my histrionics.
