The Harlequin has agreed to give a gift certificate award redeemable in their shop. I suggested $30. Larry, one of the half partners insisted on getting permission from GE because the didn't want to step on a competitor's turf without permission.

On Gamer's Bag dice bags, I don't have any. If we'd thought of it earlier, I'm sure I could've arranged something. I'm reluctant to ask them for an order donation because they're still struggling. Couldn't hurt, though, I guess.

bloodymage - I don't get it, fully.

You're going to come, with a $X gift certificate, redeemable at a gaming shop in Turlock, given to... who? The 'best' roleplayer of the day?

(some questions)

As judged by who?

Why would the person be able to likely redeem it? Turlock is probably pretty far away for most participants.

I went by Great Escape again today, and talked to the Manager AND the owner.
Let them know again about the Gathering, and ran by your idea (what I understood about it) by him. He didn't understand it either.

Now that I think I know what you're talking about, I'll call him tomorrow and let him know - I don't see him having a problem with you giving out a gift certicate to a shop in Turlock, tho I'm still fuzzy on why it would be of much use to most players, or why the Harlequin owner's would be so kind as to do this..

The Harlequin is mostly a Games Workshop retailer. They carry RPGs and will order anything, but Larry is concerned that if the gift certificate is redeemable only in his shop that Great Escapes, another GW client, will accuse him of attempting to steal customers (I guess). It surprised me that he wanted permission from GE for us to give away a gift certificate. I'm still a bit fuzzy on his reasoning myself. All I know is that if GE says OK, we get our gift certificate.

As to who gets it, my goal is to have a minimum of four prizes, one for each table. The players would decide who gets the prize and I figure it would be mostly first-come, first-serve. If we got something like an HM PHB or a stricly d20 product, then we might limit those particular awards to particular tables. It's all pretty open right now until we see what we have. And as long as someone is approaching GE about awarding a particular prize, it would be great if they could also pitch in a prize.

I'll call the owner tomorrow about it, and get back to you.

However, I don't see GE contributing prizes.

Gunslinger, AeronBlaze, Reapersaurus, and Rossco999... I need characters. Rules are on the front page, but I'll quote them here:

For my game, please make your 2nd level characters, using the core rulebooks only (just to keep things simple), before the game. You can play as any of the core races, and, if you really want, a tiefling or aasimar, but they will start with one class level instead of two.

I'd prefer that you play good or neutral characters, but if you have a really cool character concept that requires an evil alignment, e-mail me about it at northcalgameday@yahoo.com

For character creation we will be using point-buy, with 28 points to spend, although this may change when I take a better look at the DMG after work. Your character may have 900 gold pieces to spend on equipment, or the normal amount for 1st level characters if you're playing as a Tiefling or Aasimar.

If you're playing as an Aasimar you get: +2 Wis, +2 Cha, +2 Listen, +2 Spot, darkvsion (60 ft.), acid, cold, and electricity resistance 5, and light once per day as a 1st level sorcerer.

If you're playing as a Tiefling, you get: +2 Dex, +2 Int, -2 Cha, +2 Bluff, +2 Hide, darkvision (60 ft.), acid, cold, and electricty resistance 5, and darkness once per day as a 1st level sorcerer.

For health points, take the maximum for first level (as usual) and the average for 2nd. So a 2nd level Fighter with 10 Constitution would have 15 hit points.

Please send your characters to me at the same e-mail address. Thank you!

I'll be playing a cleric. You'll have it shortly.

[Edit] Email sent, but I'm not really sure if it actually attached both the front and back. If you only got the front, then post in here within the next couple of hours and I'll send just the back. Otherwise, you can just look it over during breakfast tomorrow.

I'll be playing a Fighter (archer). I'll work on and email it out to you once I get home, and will tell Rossco999 to do the same. Apologies for the delay.
