August 2nd Northern California Game Day- Memories on Page 3

Another assignment for the 'saurus. Call Denny's and have them arrange seating for a group of 20. They must have business groups, church groups, club groups, that kind of stuff frequently enough to handle it. That way, every one just goes in and looks for the big group!

Let's hope there's not multiple Twenty-Some groups at Denny's, otherwise we could end up with a troublesome mishap in which some confused gamers wind up on an Old Folk's bus heading off towards Oregon...

But yup, good idea on reserving a few tables.

Game Day is now three days away and our tables aren't full!

There is one (or more) opening in Graveyard Shift in the afternoon. Folks signed up for evening games who might want to get some cojones (sorry, HM attitude leaking out) and try a little Hack include garyh, e3_Jeb (fat chance with that handle! ), Pebby, EchoPhantom and Fred.

Three slots open for some old-time classic meatgrinder action in Lost Caverns. Afternoon folks, as yet too timid to step into the killing field, include Mistergone, reapersaurus, Rossco999 and AeronBlaze.

Of course, there's always room for new blood to be shed! NorCal gamers, you have two and a half days to sign up for the 1st Annual NorCal Game Day! :D

Has anyone worked on prizes? If we manage to get a minimum of four, we could do an MVP for each table. I'll talk with my FLGS this afternoon. The rest of you you see what you can scare up, too.

e3_Jeb (fat chance with that handle! )

Heh heh heh. Actually, e3_Jeb (who's my friend) has had that username for a long time before he learned to play D&D.

And bloodymage, I was very tempted to play in your OAD&D game, but I decided on the safety factor of Third Edition instead.

Well, I can call, but I don't know if they do reservations, and it seems a bit much to ask for a table for 20 - we really don't know how many will show up at 9:00 am, and we can pretty much guarantee that not all signed up will show, so I'd guess more like 10.

I'll let them know to expect around 10 at least, and see if they have rezzies available. Actually, the first person there in the morning could probably do a lot of good in letting Denny's know about the table request.

Denny's is just a few good stone's throws away from Great Escape (right near Howe bout Arden). The Denny's is further South on Howe, not quite to Hurley, on the East side of Howe. Can't miss it.

Tsunami - you may want to list in the first post that the meeting time is at 11:00 AM at Great Escape, and that we start play at 11:30.
That first 1/2 hour, I predict, will be crucial to getting the day started in an orderly fashion.
Not that that's a requirement (knowing gamers ;) ), but if we want people to be able to rely on schedules and the like, the more organized, the better.

bloodymage - If I'm around at night, I might join the 2E game. Will we just pick characters when we get there?

Does anyone have a spare battle-mat, or something, that could be used to place miniatures on for the Gladiator Game (if it gets anyone playing)? I'm predicting it'll be a quick, deadly exercise in 3E combat.

edit: oh - there will be one round prep time before battle is joined, all in the Pit, all fighting at once.

I indicated 20 just to be sure. There'll be 4 of us from down south and 3 in loball's clan if he makes it.

Lost Caverns is a 1e (The "O" in "OAD&D" means "Original") adventure. And yeah, I usually call for a roll-off to pick characters to determine order.

For those playing, I am going to pre-gen some characters using ETools. The module is designed for levels 6-8, so that's the range. [/B]

AUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHH

WAIT! Before you create your characters -

I had a brain-fart. The module is designed for 6-8 characters of levels 3-5

So, if you're creating characters, go with 78 total stat val, and level 3-5.

Sheesh - just had my 40th b-day, and it's showing....

Loball.
p.s. Hope no-one wasted much time creating characters already.

Just talked with my FLGS, The Harlequin Games in Turlock. Should be no problem getting a gift cetificate from them, but they want Great Escapes permission for it to be awarded in the shop up there since they're both on the GW 40K circuit and GE's got that big tournament coming up. Sir reapersaurus, once again? ;)
