Autofire house rules for d20 Modern??

I agree with Psion about ditching d20 Modern's autofire rules. I have used the Dragonstar/Perpetrated Press rules in the past, but there's something about the rules presented in Grim Tales that makes me want to try them.

That, and I'm copying, pasting, and printing out S'mon's system for review now...

I think Ref Save mechanics are great for dodging grenade blasts & suchlike, but wholly inappropriate for being shot at.

Re my system - I had an epiphany after I posted it on RPGnet and someone pointed out the calculation looked too complex. If you have lots of d20s, for long-burst fire just divide the number of bullets in the burst by 3 (rounding down) and roll the remainder as individual shots vs the target* - eg if firing a 9-round burst roll 3 attacks vs the target(s).

*You can split shots vs multiple targets if desired, as long as they're all within a 4mx8m area.

For high-RoF weapons like a vehicle-mounted minigun that can fire 100 round bursts, rather than roll 33 attacks you could divide by 10 rather than by 3, then roll 1d6 per hit to see how many bullets actually hit - eg for a 100 round burst roll 10 attacks, each hit is actually 1d6 hits.
