I thought more along the lines of summoning a Dretch, which casts Stinking Cloud and Scare in turn. Or summoning a Fire Mephit, which casts Scorching Ray and Heat Metal. Or, slightly higher in level, a Bralani, which can do the following routine: At will— blur, charm person, gust of wind, mirror image, wind wall; 2/day—lightning bolt, cure serious wounds.

Summon Nature's Ally has the good old Unicorn, for Cure Light and Moderate Wounds plus Neutralize Poison. And so on.
