average game session

I have one weekly game from 7:30 or 8 untill around midnight depending on where we are.

I have an on going game once a month on Sat from noon - midnight.

I also have a game ever 3 weeks or so on Sunday from 11 - 7 or so.

Any pick up games we do fall in to the "7:30 or 8 untill around midnight" window.

I would say unless it takes you two hours to get the game going that 4-5 hours is plenty.

My group generally plays about once every 3 weeks or so, on Sundays from around 1 until around 11PM, 12am...

We alternate between two campaigns, and on occasion fiddle around a little with SpyCraft.

We have talked about splitting things up, with my campaign (that I run) playing every other week for a few hours on a weeknight, with the other campaign being a once-per-month big Sunday game.

I run two D&D 3E groups:

FRIDAY NIGHT, every week, from about 8pm through 12pm (4 hours), six players and myself as DM.

SUNDAY NIGHT, every two weeks, from about 5pm through 11 pm (6 hours), four players and myself as DM.

Cheers!

Highschool messes everything up, it seems its hard to do anything that is too organized, but to answer your question ours is about 4-5 hours that and recently We (being GnomeWorks, a couple of school people and me) were thinking of doing it everday, after school for about 30-60 minutes, which adds up to about that of a 5 hour game every week, or a 20 hour game a month, we are just thinking about it, though

I run three games currently:

A high level campaign (borderline epic) once every month - usually a 6 hour session or so.

A once weekly session every Wednesday that goes for about three hours - the source for my SH BTW.

A once weekly session for a group of high school kids that goes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

I prefer shorter weekly games to keep things fresh and lively. It also cuts down on visiting time and we get down to business faster.

I'm sure this has been beat to death, but I can't search the previous threads...
But I'm pretty torqued at one of my fellow players.. He's refusing to play Saturday night because he's thinks it's a waste of his time to play only a four and a half to five hour session.
Too long for him?

Let's see...

We play Fridays and start at either 6pm or 9pm, and go till around 11 to midnight or 2 am.

When I'm in a weeknight game, it's usually more like 7pm to 11pm.

IN all cases about an hour gets wasted on extraneous gossip.

We play every Friday from six-ish to midnight-ish with lots of interruptions for goofing off, x-box, the hosts putting kids to bed, etc. On and off we've had a Saturday game from around 4 to 10. So, looks like 6 hours with various interruptions. The two game a week thing can get very tiring very fast especially when you also have class(es) to study for. Even if all we do is get together and talk for a few hours we still have fun-it's the social interaction that counts. (But more than a week without actual gaming and some of the members go into withdrawal.)

Semi-marathonish

The gaming group I'm in meets once a week (on Saturday nights). People start showing up around 5 (in the post meridian), and we usually get down to playing between 6 and 7. An early night for us is around about 3 in the morning, but we typically go until 4 or 5 (and then there's the "nights" we leave and the sun's coming up).

Now, we don't play the whole time...there's plenty of BSing in there. Still, I'd say our actual playing time is around 8 or so hours.

Egads. I don't know as I'd ever thought about it that way before. I think I may be an addict.
