"Award Winning" Story Hours

The other one I've dug into pretty extensively is Lazy Bones' "Wild West" Forgotten Realms Story, though I keep hearing Rel and Sepulchrave mentioned a lot. :) One of these days, I'm going to try and dig into both of those.

*emphasis mine*

Really? I'm a little surprised to hear that. Where am I getting all this press?

Not to be overly self-depricating, but if you are only going to read one story hour this year...don't read mine. Instead read Piratecat's or Sep's or Wulf Ratbane's (one of my personal favorites) or Old One's (another of my personal favorites). If you're only going to read two story hours this year, read another one of those. But if you're going to read three, well, by all means, check my sig. That thread links back to the earlier threads for the campaign.

The one thing that I'll say about mine is that it has a definite ending if you read through the end of the second thread. But we've recently picked that campaign back up so now it also has a new beginning (the thread linked in my sig).

Sepulchrave! Best story their is.

PKitty as second because he incoperates Hives into his campaign (:p) and its so damend amusing! Great ideas worked into the game and amusing dialogues. Sep's more serious but more my style. But I keep track of both. Both great.

Piratecat's story hour wins my vote. Who doesn't like the games with Wulf involved?

Sepuchrave's is very good. It seems to almost be more of a novel than a story hour. (which can be good or bad depending what you're looking for.)

Also, I have to pimp Die_Kluge's story hour. I don't know why, but it rocks.

johnrog's Drunk Southern Girls trumps all the aces in the Story Hour deck.

And a couple of nods for overlooked ones (since EVERYONE'll put in for the "big boys") -- Carnifex, JDyal's Detroit Cthulhu one (great opening sequence, here, I'm SO stealing the elevator phone gag, JD), and any and all of Dr Midnight's.

Credit for that game goes to Quickbeam who ran it, and Monte Cook who authored the scenario. It's unfortunate that that game only had two play sessions before falling apart due to real-life issues.

Also, BC, you're being too modest -- his Story Hour (or at least the setting it's based on) is so intrigueing that he was *interviewed* by an rpg.net columnist about it once, a few years ago.

I've read a lot, and I totally agree with most of the recommendations here, so I'll pimp some of the less-traveled but still excellent stories that don't get as much attention.

Old Drew Id's Medallions d20 Modern campaign: his players post in the thread, and they are VERY into their setting. Very good characters, well-written. First "episode" is complete, second has just started.

Destan's Sins of Our Fathers: also very good, evocative language, dark setting.

In Hextor's Name by Capellan: a nice dual-perspectives story with an atypical protagonist.

(contact)'s Liberation of Tenh: I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned this one. Action and comedy come together and result in big 'ol piles of Dead Bad Guys.

Old One's Against the Shadows: a very intricate Roman-themed custom world setting. Rel's story set in this world is also very good.

While I couldn't agree more that (contact)'s is a great story hour, I take offense at unauthorized use of my B.P.O.D.B.G. trademark.

Besides, everyone knows, what makes (contact)'s story so great is the big piles of dead GOOD guys. :D
