In 3.5, what properties would a human-sized longsword made out of Baaotian green steel have? Has this material been described in 3rd edition?

Officially detailed in 3.5? I don't think it has been.

I've house-ruled that green steel weapons do damage as though they were a size larger on the scale, but that's just a house rule.

It has been detailed in Arms & Equipment.

Basically it gives a +1 natural enhancement bonus to damage for piercing and slashing weapons that doesn't stack with other enhancement boni (as usual).

MW BGS weapons have +1 attack, +1 damage.

Hope this helps!

Yep. It was first detailed in the path adventure Bastion of Souls. (As a sidenote, the plural for bonus is bonuses... sorry, it's just a nitpick of mine.)

Well, if you feel like incorporating it into your games, keep the properties- that is, the +1 to damage- but also incorporate monsters into your games with Damage Reduction of X/Greensteel. That is, creatures from the Good-aligned Upper Planes would probably have this type of damage reduction.

IMC, BGS weapons count as evil for penetrating DR, and they gain a +1 profane bonus to attack and damage. It costs the same as adamantine on the Prime, but only 1/5th that price in Baator.

They're popular anti-Celestial tools.

Which is exactly what I have done in my campaign world. Works great, especially for players who recognize it from previous planescape gaming.
