Babies and Wet-Nurses: A Conversation

Ring: "Then why did we bring her here? She seems like a nice enough person that I could easily become friends with, but I would choose a different way to get to know someone."

Ring: "We asked her here to determine whether or not Archonus was her child's father, L'Aurel. The fact that that was even a possibility would make her being the nursemaid...awkward at best."

Archonus just found out that he has a child, but the mother is dead. Archonus will not leave the child behind, but we will not endanger other people. That's what the story is and that's what we tell him.

or at least that's what I think was stated as the story....

Which doesn't explain why we'd be looking for the nursemaid now, before the child is born; ie before the birth mother passed away.

Hard birth child came early, right now the child is on it's way to Archonus as there would be questions if the child came from within Hywrl.
Due to position in circle and duke status and the child's status as his heir and AA's pension for secrecy and over protectiveness the child is not going to be announced, praded into town, nor is information going to be given out about where it is coming from or how long exactly it will take the child to get here or any such as those.

Serching for the Nursemaid: we can start now the time of this questioning (Xath's meeting on Nursemaids), and can pull off questions to the general population as we are in a war who that is pregnant now would be willing to fulfill this postion should the need arise. And we do not limit our search to those of Jaine's due date, since we are looking for a broad spectrum of candidates.
Honestly not a bad thing to think about anyways.

Search for decvice: Freckles gets less time, at the two month or one month mark we tell him the story as it will be told others- whatever AA has decided if it is not what is above. And ask him to make the device. If he asks questions just to get info. we tell him it does not dealw ith making the contraption so he does not need to know. We don't have to answer everyone's questions or give a full length answer to every question posed.

OOC

So - here's the deal... a complicated pump system wouldn't work in our current day and age for a couple of reasons I discussed with Kennon tonight:

(1.) No mundane way to keep the milk cold - this become particularly important in a situation when our magics, and everyone elses magics, are being used for war time purposes. There will be a lot on magic expended on this child the way it is, and as many of us have learned the hard way, depending on magic for your very existance is not always a good idea.

(2.) Plastic does not exist - creating the pump will be all but impossible without some sort of plastic sucking device. So, unless we want to hire someone to suck the milk from Jaine's nipple and spit it into a wine skin, it's probably not going to work out. (how totally gross is that?!)

(3.) Letting anyone else in on the Queen's Secret is not a good idea - it needs to be kept on the DL as much as possible.

Those are the pertinent points... the wet nurse is probably going to have to work - I have serveral ideas as to where to find one that is *not* Lady Goldenblade... will post in a bit.

Xath is also wearing the ring. So how do we handle searching for nursemaids? Do we tell them that Archonus is expecting a child? With who?
Justice is wearing her ring.

I've got a pretty good idea for a qualified Nursemaid... Justice knows, from her experience at Jade Forest, that every so often, one of the students finds herself in the Queen's Predicament.

Justice would happily travel back to the acad. if requested to see if any of the students happens to be in that situation... it could also serve as a diplomatic mission to attempt to win the support (if only verbal) of our cause.

Secondly, if we find a non-skilled common woman to serve as the Nursemaid Justice can also call in a favor from Tara. She is a skilled Ninja that would be more than capable of protecting not only the child, but the woman generous enough to care for the child.

"In his own way, he held the ideals of our lost rebellion higher than even Lord Fitzquaron," she answers, turning a beautific smile toward Jansten.
Justice smiles at the beautiful Goldenblade woman, suspicion fluttering behind her perfectly painted expression. "He sounds like a nobel and kind man, Lady Goldenblade. Do you plan to wed?"

Her eyes narrow, once more. "His duty has taken him away from me, and we cannot wed. But my child and I will be loved from afar."

Understanding floods her suspicious eyes. "I see. That is too bad. Trust that I understand your child's situation as I had no father as a child. It is only in this Circle of friends that I found a family."

(OOC - can I roll a Sense Motive check?)
