If he can get control of the writing, moving away from IRL concerns and towards Doctor concerns, he - or whoever - would have a better chance with the series.
In the last three years, I have only heard about two episodes I would want to see as recurring reruns: the Giant Spiders and Rosa Parks. The former needs some work but is a diamond-in-the-rough Halloween special. In the latter, the Doctor had to 'nail down' the outcome he had seen (via looking at alternative futures) would create the most good.
