Back Surgery Soon

I have a very bad back, Degenerative Disk Disease. Since I was 19 Ive had two back surgeries to keep my leg from becoming paralyzed.

Recently, Ive been having severe back pain extending down into my leg. I went to my doctor and she sent me to have an hour of MRIs and some X Rays done this past saturday.

Well, I got a call from the doctor this morning, and she said that I have another ruptured disk, and what looks like a hemangioma tumor pressing up against my spine and several nerves. I going to go talk to a specialist soon, but it looks like Im going to have to have another back surgery before too long.

Its pretty firghtening to me, the last time I had back surgery there was a mistake and spinal fluid started leaking from the membrane around my spine, and swelled up into an egg-sized lump underneath the skin over my spine. When the staples were removed and it was drained I had a spinal headache for a week. If youve ever had a spinal headache you understand when I say that Id almost rather die than go through that again.


So, well... Im really nervous and stressed out, and pretty scared right now.

I can't even imagine what you are going through. I hope the surgery will provide you with eventual relief from the pain.

That sucks man, sorry to hear it. I can relate. I had a 13cm giant cell swanoma(sp) tumor removed from my lower spine and sacrum about 2 years ago, and found out last week that it's back and I need more surgery. I won't threadjack by going into it, but needless to say, I'll be praying everything works out for ya.

I see you're from PA, did you have your surgery's locally? The othopisists(sp) at the Cleveland Clinic are amazing.
