[BADD] My players threw down the gauntlet!!

Ok no lair ideas

1 - First encounter should be a from behind charge on the dragon. After a bit the dragon and giant flee. They fly into...

2 - An ice storm - flying becomes impossible for medium size creatures. Visibility is low.

3 - Party crossing through icestorm walks atop a frozen lake. The giant throws a rock cracking the ice. Flying is dangerous, drowning more so. Dragon and giant make a couple of passes while the party sorts it out. Then they flee.

4 - Party stumbling through the snow crosses atop the dragon lying buried beneath the snow. The dragon, using blindsight, rears up and surprise attacks rear-most PC. Giant using its reach, attacks from the front. If the giant is killed the dragon will flee.

Tactics:
2. The dragons lair should be filled with ice (1/4 movement or Ref save DC 15 to fall at 1/2 movement, DC 25 or fall at full movement - AC penalties apply).

Errr... this is a pet pieve of mine. This should be Balance checks not Ref saves.

FINALY I find the thread again and get to reply, after the boards went poopy a couple days ago!

It's always possible to rationalise any encounter you can come up with, with enough imagination and time of course. So you can still use the 3 White Dragons the group stated they could over-come without much trouble.

Female and two males. It's mating season, or at least the two males are both trying to impress the female for breeding rights. If one male's attacked the others could jump in to destroy the group, as Dragon Slayers are never good to have around, and it'd be easy to kill-off the looser later. Mabye the males are twin brothers, they have a strangely friendly relationship. They're still out to defeat each other's attempts at winning favor, but they'd definately team up against humans over thier own kind.

You say the group's about ready to go into Epic levels, use this fight as a lead-in to thier facing some Epic-powered baddy. So, the group's just managed to kill the 3 personaly-raised-from-the-eggs 'pet' dragons of the Arch Villian, this finaly brings the group to his attention. This is not a good thing ;)

Hatchling Dragon

PS: Don't forget to let us know all the ugly details, whichever way the fight goes. (Like the Dragons could loose  )

They all lost

Here is was I had, 1 White Wyrm Dragon, 1 10th level fighter Frost Giant with all the ride feats. 1 18th level Drow Cleric.

My badies all lost.

Basically they harmed to death all the badies. I managed to mircle the dragon back from the dead for the duration of the combat but that was about it.

I have discovered if the cleric has enough hitpoints to take at least 1 round of attacks from the stuff I threw at him, he harmed it and inflicted it. Thats it. Dead.

So next time you know how you want your monsters to react. 1. evil Cleric harm's good cleric, 2. Dragon attacks good cleric with all his attacks, 3. Frost giant keeps other two characters from interviening. 4. Move to Druid next round. If they want to play that way you have to too. I am assuming the characters took Harm at least three times, sounds like they are stuck on it, did they plan on the fight before hand, Or do they always load up on it?

Those bastards don't go Anywhere with out 3 harms and a few heals and a healing circle. I got plans just you wait.

At least the Death Knight got away with the Sword of Kaz and the Lich the staff of the Magi.

You know what would really tee them off, have them attacked by evil doubles, who use the exact same tactics, I'm sure then it wouldn't be fare and you would be out to get them. I'm not sure about their alignments but Harm is the act of channeling negative energy into damage, be ashame if say a party of lawful good clerics and Paladins noticed them being so flippant about using negative energy.

In the books Harm is not Evil. They fought and fought to keep Harm the way it is. I agreed. They know full well that the same spell will work on them. I got plans for harm.

As for the Paladins and seeing characters channel negative energy, I would hate to see a paladin modern time. He would be slicing batteries in half to destroy the negative side of it. Negative energy is just an energy, just like positive.
