Bards of Eldritch Might and 3.5e

The Bard was one of the classes that got the biggest changes in 3.5e - notably in their spell list, where they lost some buff spells (like Protection from Evil and Magic Weapon) but gained a whole lot of illusionary goodness. So, I was wondering if the 3.5 update to the Book of Eldritch Might II took these changes into account?

Well the CBOEM bard does not use spells, but magical song components with fairly bard appropriate effects instead so the spell list changes were not that relevant I'd think.

I only have the CBOEM, not the BOEMII so I could not tell you the exact differences in the class from 3.0 to 3.5 though.

I could be remembering wrong, but I believe that NOTHING was really done to the bards in the Book of Eldrithc Might to address the changes. When I first got the book, I was vastly disappointed with the sheer lack of updates for the sorcerer and other material. It was more a collection of the three books with a few minimum updates, like the monsters, than a comprehensive update, and it brought it's own errors with it too.

Malhavok board would probably be a better place to get a definitive answer though.

Hmmm. I think a bigger question I would consider first is: what was the purpose of the changes to the 3.5 bard spell list. I'm not really certain myself.

To make the bard into more of a hobby-illusionist and less of a combat buffer, I reckon. Especially for self-buffs - they still have a few spells that can help the rest of the party out.

Among other things, this makes it more of an appropriate favored class for gnomes.
