Ok reading through the bear warrior the first ability you gain +8 to strength for brown bear form etc.

Does this stack with original strength? ie Half-orc str 20 goes from +5 to +8 ?

This seems to mean lower strength barbarians would benefit more if they don't stack.

The +8 is a bonus to the character's strength score. So, the 20 str half-orc would go to a 28 str (and boosting his str mod from +5 to +9 in the process). You'll have to look at the description to see if this is a typed or untyped bonus, but whatever it is, it will stack with the character's natural strength.

Beckett's got it: the +8 Strength adds to your character's Strength score. In the case of the 20 Strength (+5 modifier) half-orc, his Strength would improve to 28, with a +9 modifier. The bonus to Strength is untyped, just like a barbarian's ordinary Rage.

The adjustments to Dexterity and Constitution you receive when in bear form are likewise untyped. They simply change the score, and will stack with typed bonuses (such as enhancement and inherent bonuses).

When you gain the Brown Bear form, don't neglect to take into account your size change to attack rolls and AC, nor the size bonuses on opposed checks such as grappling. You'll also gain reach, which is nice.

Correct, except you won't gain any reach. Bears are long creatures, so both brown and dire bears, while large, only have a 5ft reach.

Oops, good catch there. I've been awfully mean to my players, it would seem. :D

Although a couple of levels of Master of Many Forms will solve that.

Das Uber Bear

I've had this idea of what I call "Das Uber Bear" (cause I don't atm know the german for bear)... I don't even know if this would work but here it is.

Gestalt: Tank Class (Warblade? :p) 10 / Bear Warrior 10 | Druid 20

Wildshape: direbear + Bite of the Werebear + direbear rage

Strength 67?

Thats one huge... bear.

I gotta figure out a way to throw some Frenzied Berserker in there for good measure...
