Best and worst kids shows as a parent?

Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

Of course, I am biased, as I am friends with one of the voice-over actors on the show. But still, it's a great show.

Mistwell what do you do for a living? You know animators froom the Simpsons, voice actors and have interacted with Seth MacFarlane enought o realize he's a douche. Are you an animator?

My youngest is now nine and has outgrown a number of those, but Jimmy Neutron still holds his interest. He absolutely loves Avatar: The Last Airbender (as do my two older childen as well).

Curiously, his favorite show now seems to be Scooby Doo, and he has yet to figure out that every episode is essentially the same - this from the same kid who when after watching "Return of the Jedi" at age seven he made the comment to me: "Dad, if the Rebels were able to fly a ship into the first Death Star and blow it up with a single shot why didn't the Empire fix that mistake when they were building another one?"

We tried to keep our two year old away from Barney and Teletubbies, but he got hooked on them at daycare. We managed to avoid Teletubbies at home, but his grandma got him a pile of Barney DVDs that we had to watch repeatedly (the freaking things ask you when they are starting if you want to watch it "once" or "continuously" ).

Luckily, he's mostly moved past Barney now and loves Toopee and Binou, Dora/Diego, Max and Ruby, Franklin, Berenstein Bears, Thomas the Tank Engine, Caillou, and Backyardigans. He kind of pays attention to Little Bear, Timothy Goes to School, and Pocoyo.

Of those, I dislike Barney, Teletubbies, and Caillou. The rest are decent, with Backyardigans being the best IMO. We've been putting on a lot of animated movies for him, and he seems to like the Pixar flicks. Those I could watch all day. :D

Ugh. Berinstein Bears are horrible! Super obvious moral lessons coupled with treacly sentiment. I suppose I wouldn't mind so much if it didn't seem to think it was profound and Aesop-like.

Naw, just an attorney with an actor for a wife. All of those folks you just mentioned are really friends of my wife, and I just tag along...

I hope you took this as an opportunity to explain the evils of a powerful bureaucracy! :)

I just want to know who names their children "Brother" and "Sister"? I mean, seriously, it would be fine if all their stories were just them at home, but their school friends call them those names too! I expect to see a flashback to Papa Bear's childhood where his kindergarten teacher is calling him "Papa"....

I'm a huge fan of Veggie Tales. One of my ex-gfs used to babysit, and I got to watch a couple of episodes once. It was great.
Also a big fan of Veggietales here. My wife and I bought them even before we had kids. :p

My absolute most hated kid's show is Angelina Ballerina. I can't stand the overconfident, self-absorbed, whiny, melodramatic, emo title character.
