Best Commando Ever?

In the middle of finding out about Scottish 'commandos'. There are some outstanding examples, e.g. William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, Sir David 'SAS' Stirling, many of the Commandos who trained in Scotland before winning VCs for acts of outrageous recklessness in WW2 - and a guy I'm still researching who makes all of that lot look like girl guides.

Anyone up for suggest other national Commandos who'd look on base-jumping into a minefield as a weekend off?

In all seriousness, though, the US Navy SEALs have acquitted themselves pretty well this past week. Those guys are pretty hardcore.

All commandos are a little "off". I've never met a SO guy that didn't leave me in both awe and feeling like they should see the headshrinker.

I think the best example of this is the motto for the British SAS is "Who Dares, Wins" which is pretty bold...bolder still is the Australian SAS motto "We Dare".

And BTW as to base jumping into a minefield, I used to have a photo of a US Army Green Beret HALO jumping into a drop zone with a Claymore land mine strapped to his helmet and the trigger duct tapped to his hand so that even if he was shot, the thing would go off anyway; like I said, none of them are quite right in the head.

Oskar Dirlewanger was not only criminally insane but also - seemingly - had no fear of death, was exceedingly bloodthirsty and there was no killing him: He was wounded over 10 times. There were lot of tough guys in WW2, lot of brave moments, but to be wounded 10+ times and live is just... That's not human, that's more like a cockroach or something...
