Surprised? Why? It's a good setting, isn't it?

Yes it is a good setting; one of the better ones I have had the pleasure of reading. However, given the volume of conversations that I have followed (an admittedly skewed viewpoint) I would have suspected it to fair in the top 4; just not in the #1 slot of the poll.

My own expectation for the poll was:

#1: Forgotten Realms
#2: Greyhawk
#3: Scarred Lands or Kalamar
#4: Scarred Lands or Kalamar (shichever did not get #3)

So, yes, I am surprised, but happilly so.

Can I be a kooky koker too, Nightfall? Remember me? I'm old skool kooky!

BTW - if I wanted a more high fantastic/magical world, I would almost definitely pick Scarred Lands. I think that both KoK and SL are great for what they do, but cater to very different niches. I just happen to fall into the former.

kooky koker Club

Perhaps there should be a kooky koker Club, although if we do create one we should be certain not to spell club with a K, as we then may be mistaken for another group.

:) Yes Ken I don't doubt you are OLD old skool kooky. And as for the rest, hey I'm just glad to know you guys. And I'm glad that some of you do like some of the higher magical aspects of SL. It's what I find interesting too.

You know I find it interesting that one of the things I dislike about the Realms is the high-magic feel, but I like it in Scarred Lands. Strange indeed.

Maybe because there MOST of the high magic is involved or is the lifesblood of the titanspawn. Divine races have some power but let's face, most won't be making Mythals or casting "High Elven Magics". True rituals and ritual magics, sure, and rune casting. But let's face it, it's not like they have Ubermages galore devoted to a goddess of magic. Not mention all the gods get their due here in the Scarred Lands.

That's at least my take Sul.

IMHO Forgotten has lots of fans, and even more haters. With FR, you can love it or you can hate it, there are (almost) no middle ground. And most of old TSR fans are fragmentated, FR, Dragonlance, Planescape (the best, of course!), Dark Sun, Greyhawk...
So I find it makes difficult for FR to win such a poll.
