I find it interesting that 19 people voted for Forgotten Realms, but not a single person bothered replying as to why, or that they voted for it at all. Does voting for the FR automatically dub someone as a munchkin/WotC puppet? (And yes, I realize that you didn't have to list reasons as to your vote, but that is beside the point.)
Well, I voted for the FR...and I'm not even a fan of it. I just happen to recognize the fact that the FR is the most varied and detailed setting that is still produced today. And it certainly doesn't hurt having four d20 books about the FR -- all earning high marks in many gamers' minds.
My opinion as to the best setting that started with d20? Well, that is easy: the Scarred Lands.
And BTW: I don't honestly think that homebrew campaigns, or campaigns from other systems should have been an option -- as this is about d20 settings and no one is privy to your biased homebrew, while other systems simply don't count.
