Best Giant Mecha System?

Simple question - which game system do you guys think is the best to run a giant mecha game in the style of the Gundam series, particularly Gundam Wing. So lots of stuff happening outside the mechas, but big military style battles against the less powerful, more economical models employed by most of the world's governments. The Mecha rules don't really grab me in d20 Future. I know BESM, but I'm unfamiliar with their mecha supplement. Any others?

DP9 uses the same mecha system from GOO's BESM in their Mecha Compendium and Deluxe Mecha Compendium books. The latter includes the rules.

If you're lucky, you might find someone to share the Mecha d20 SRD with you.

The Silhouette system by Dream Pod 9 is pretty good for this, and they have mecha creation rules right in the core book.

You should also pick up the "Jovian Chronicles" setting for this system - it has a lot of Gundam influences...

M&M 1e

I if I were to start a Mecha campaign I'd use Mutants & Masterminds with tight character creation restrictions. Set parameters on "normal human" and a laundry list of "Mecha features" to get them on thier way.

I always loved the rules for building mecha in the various incarnations of Mekton but the actual rules for combat and characters were kind of 'meh' at best, IMHO. I have almost the exact opposite issue with Dream Pod 9's games. For me, it always depended upon what I was in the mood for. I can't think of a product that stands out as being a great all around treatment of giant robot combat.
