Best non-WotC Base Classes?

Pretty much anything from SSS's Advanced Player's Guide (Handbook? - not the Green Ronin one).

That would be the Aethersmith, Animist, Geomancer and the Soulcrafter.

I totally dig Elements of Magic, but that's really a whole 'nother magic system, and without the magic system the classes are nothing special.

I should say that my martial artist is kinda obsolete now that Bo9S is out. You can use maneuvers to do anything it can do, only with more kabooms. I guess one difference is that it's OGL and the Bo9S is not, if that matters.

My favorite, non-WotC classes include:

The classes from AE/AU
The revision of the sorceror and bard Monte Cook did in Book of Eldritch Might 2.
The classes in the Black Company sourcebook.

The most interesting, I think, is the jack of all trades. Literally, the jack of all trades - his abilities include Emulate Feat and Emulate Skill. That's all he has for abilities
