Given that there are so many fighters, I selected on the basis of how likely someone new to D&D is to recognise them.

Which basically means GoT or LotR only.

Arcadian Knight
okay, wait, look, I don't want to bring umbrage to this list, but did you really have to leave out sokka? sokka, the one fighter in a party full of magic users, the one shining example of boring guy in party full of special people? even gets a special quest where he gets basically a magic weapon and special training? fine, whatever, I'll just sulk somewhere else o<-<
who seemingly magically becomes tactically and strategically brilliant while playing barely competent sidekick the rest of the story...

Coroc

Hero
Ah now Xena is a fighter, thanks. Luckily you did not put Boromir to the bard voting just because he happens to have a horn :p

Some Rutger Hauer movies are really good also like "Flesh and Blood" or "Ladyhawke" I miss him in this thread and as an actor, he was one of the better ones.

Legend
This is an area where cinema and literature- even the literature that inspired the game-just don't match up all that well to D&D. Film/TV/Literature doesn't have system mechanics that rewards the fighter for wearing a steel garbage can

Undrave

Legend
I feel like Madmartigan acts more like a Rogue than a Fighter.

Otherwise, kudos for bringing up Sinbad!

Here's what I have for the next poll: monk. Which obvious ones am I missing?
...

Oh man... I got an AMAZING monk I could suggest, but just the fact that they ARE a monk is basically a spoiler ><

I went back and forth on Madmartigan, but his biggest battle he wears full armor and goes gonzo. So fighter.

And who is the monk. If it's a great representation, then they must be included. ;) I'm doing the poll shortly on that.

Hahahah, Ridley Freeborn...

I went with The Hound over Jaime from Game of Thrones, simply because of how important the loss of his hand and his fighting ability is to his character development.

I went with Valeria over Red Sonja because of how wooden Red Sonja is (both acting and swordplay). Also, Red Sonja's sword looks like a prop, whereas Valeria's looks like a weapon.
