Best on TV Right Now? Post Your Opinion.

shows I'd be really annoyed if I missed.
24
Prison Break
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Scrubs
Veronica Mars
Lost

I've been caught up in Vanished and The Nine might end up there once I see enough to actually judge properly).

Haven't watched Heroes yet what with it being on monday, when I have a game and am already taping others stuff. But someone has been taping it for me so once it fills up I'll be checking that out.

Going through my DVR (not in order of importance):
Lost
World Series of Poker (probably should cancel that)
Smallville
Heroes
The Daily Show
Survivor
My Name is Earl
The Office (US version)
Dr. Who
Family Guy
Simpsons

Galactica.

There is nothing else I really watch on TV - (and to be accurate, I rarely watch braodcast episodes of Galactica for that matter).

BSG is in a class of its own. And I love this third season, too. Ron Moore has testicles the size of basketballs.

If Scrubs and Battlestar Galactica were on. It would be those. Now, I'm just downloading them.

But of the shows that are running here, I would have to say Law & Order and the Simpsons.

Hi

There are some seriously good series (heh) on TV right now. This thread is for voicing your opinion on what's best. There's no strict rules - you can mention more than one series, if you can't decide.

IMO the best series right now is HBO's The Wire. By a wide margin.

Just damn that series is good. Takes the tired genre of police series to a new level. Or really, it's not only about the cops. It's at the same time about police, politics, schools and the criminals (or, to make it sound more boring, about the institutions, be it the PD, a criminal organization, and what those institutions do to their members). The bad guys aren't put neatly in to jail at the end of each episode. Usually the polices' difficulties come from within the institution they work for, instead of from the criminals. The politicians and, following from that, the higher-ups in the police organization have foiled more investigations in the four seasons than the criminals themselves.

"Let's bust heads, the western district way" ;)

Of course, the one downside is that it's pretty difficult follow just a single episode, because one season is one storyline (or multiple). Also, action happens also off-screen, so one needs to be alert. But it's very rewarding.

So, voice your opinion! What's good/best on TV?

You are correct sir.

IMHO THE WIRE is the best show on TV, period.

I think alot of people are put off by several things about this show, the subject matter and the fact that it's not handled with kid gloves AT ALL, the dense plotting, the fully fleshed out characters (both police and crook). Theres also the matter that because of the diversity of the cast people might mistake this for a "black show" when it is simply an "excellent show".

Second on this list by a WIDE margin is BATTLESTAR GALACTICA.

Ooh, thats a tough one! 'Lost' and 'How I Met Your Mother' just finished over here, otherwise they'd get a nod.

I think my current favourites are:

Strictly Come Dancing
NCIS
Law & Order: SVU
Mock The Week
The Charlotte Church Show

I would also vote for 'QI', but I can't really because I haven't actually managed to watch any of it yet (by the time I realised it was back on, I had already missed one or two episodes, and I could have watched the repeat of the next except that it clashed with Strictly Come Dancing & NCIS and my (rearranged) D&D night).

EDIT: That's just my current favourites of the top of my head. If I were to list everything I set my HHD recorder to record it would be a long list.

glass.

I don't think the new shows have been on long enough to really rate them as my favorite yet although I think this year is a strong year overall for network TV. My favorite show that still has new episodes coming would be The Sopranos, but that will end soon. Rome is another one that I'm really looking forward to the next season. BSG is my favorite show currently showing new episodes.

On third season they faced cancellation because they only got 1.5 million viewers. They still don't have much more than that, but they they said something about DVDs and other distributions channels making this adequate. And thus, 5th and final season was ordered.

One thing I don't like though is how the character Omar has been turned into a superman. No ones that good / bulletproof.
