Best place to research publishing adventures?

Hannibal King

First Post
Hi guys. I was hoping to get some advice or info on this particular topic. I have been thinking about selling some adventures online but first I would like to research the quality/style/price/look of adventures out there. I'm talking about adventurers by the little guys, not guys like Green Ronin, Necromacer or Wizards. I admit I have tried Dungeon magazine but either my adventures are no good, not what they're after or possible the best thing since sliced bread and they can't see it? ;-) Anyway their method requires too long a wait for a response so Id' rather get my stuff out there. If it sells, it sells, if it doesn't... well I have wasted my time which frankly I can live with.

Can anyone suggest where is the best place to start and what should I look out for? I'm happy to read threads that have come before regarding this topic if someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Go to RPGNow.com and see who has adventures. Check out any demos you can get your hands on and any free adventures available from those sompanies you see there. That should get you well on your way. Best of luck!

Some other helpful suggestions include making sure your adventures are thoroughly playtested. Nothing stops an adventure faster is when the players break it 5 minutes into the game. Clean maps and good editing are also a good thing.

You should also look at the amount of free adventures that are floating around the web. They will give you a good feel for what is good and, more importantly, what isn't. Good luck. :)

Also, even we little guys take freelancer submissions. It's not all vanity press. After visiting RPGNow and getting a feel for companies that you think would be a good fit, visit their websites and read their writers' guidelines.
