Best RPG to run a Firefly game

Savage Worlds would be my first pick. It does ‘big damn heroes’ out of the box, and the latest Sci-Fi companion (which should be available in both PDF and print in the very near future) gives you some additional rules to address things like ships in more detail if you want to.
There is nothing ‘wrong’ with the Firefly game, however Cortex is a style of system which doesn’t gel for everyone.
Scum and Villainy, Firefly is one of its 3 main touch points. The smuggler ship is clearly modeled after the serenity in many ways, including a “family meal” ability. The game itself is designed to give you the sort of episodic score/mission style play that the TV series exemplified.

The Traveller game I'm in has been a hybrid of Firefly and Battlestar Galactica. We began with the starter set's Fall of Tinath, and when Tinath fell and the fleets fled, our crew (with our S-class Scout ship) began taking on missions for money ala Firefly.
I saw someone recommend Savage Worlds, but for me, SW doesn't reflect the lethality you see in Firefly or certainly Serenity.
