So do people want to start placing bets on when 4th ed is going to come out? I've seen many point at this Gen Con as the announcement time and 2008 as the date in question.

anyone setting up any pools on this?

Actually I wouldn't doubt it! I'm willing to bet that Wizards will announce 4e at GenCon next year, and release it late 2008. That way it will make it 5 years since 3.5e. I'm not saying "the sky is falling" I'm just trying to be realistic - 3.5e will have run its course after 5 years and Wizards will be looking at a new edition. Sure it will turn some people off, but many people were turned off by the tought of 3.5e after only 3 years, but 3.5e went on to be a bigger seller than 3.0e was (to say nothing of the various new edition of most White Wolf games that still sold like hotcakes).

No, I was actually asking if anyone's started a betting pool.

With all the guessing going on back and forth I was just wondering if anyone was willing to put the old money where... etc...

Is starting an EN World betting pool legal and would Morrus allow it? Instead of money we could bet books.

See, now you've got the old juices flowing.

See if we can get some publisher sponsors too!

Perhaps we can make this more respectable by asking people to donate some of their older books or books that they can donate to a good cause. This way, we can give people an excuse to clear their bookshelves, do some good, and possibly win a few prizes.

I might be willing to put some money down on this. Aren't there some online sites where you can place bets on virtually anything in a legally binding way?

That'd probably be better than doing it on ENWorld officially... taxes, 4th edition hitmen, etc.
