I don’t know anything about Battlestar Galactica soundtracks, but I’ve understood that the soundtrack for PS: Torment was made in just a few days, in a hurry. Maybe there’s unintentional, subconscious copying involved (or intentional?).

Listening to it right now. I can definitely hear the similarities. I think BSG is more muted with more big drums.

Indeed great link. I dl'd all those last night. I used to listen to the Mechwarrior CD for fun. This music reminds me of that to some degree. Really ethereal stuff.
