I encountered an annoying situation when i was trying to escort the goblin prisoner out and I had to stop and reroll the Persuasion check to avoid a fight every time I encountered a new NPC. I finally just let them have her, it was so annoying. Which is too bad, I was interested to see what happened when i took her to her clan.

I've just reached the Underdark. Getting through the goblin leaders was a challenging set of fights, but not as tough as I remembered from Early Access. Astarion and Karlach (specced as Assassin and Berserker) are absolute beasts.

Plus I got a nice new set of sexy sleepwear for my paladin.

There is a secret path along a ledge outside the cell that you can lead her along to avoid encounters.

I got the distinct impression tonight that I had wandered into the next tier region. That gnoll fight was brutal. I went back a couple saves and decided to focus on the druid plot to level everyone up.

I saw the gnolls ahead, saw a lot of them with lots of hit points, and noped out of there. Just start talking your way through the goblin camp with some judicious isolated fights (kill anyone trying to alert guards!), and you'll be hitting level 4 pretty quickly. And it makes a big difference...

When I did that bit in EA I seem to recall a load of exploding barrels in that area...

Speaking of exploding barrels, I remember in EA it was possible to cheese the Commander Zhalk fight by placing nautiloid tanks in the center of the room and then blowing them up when the Cambions arrived. It was absolutely hilarious when I tried that in the full version of the game, and the Cambions intentionally targeted the tanks with their fire bolt and blew them up while half my party was still inside the blast zone. o_O

I just barely scraped through that fight in my playthrough. My character looted Zhalk's corpse and was that promptly taken down by the reinforcements. He was down and dying by the time Shadowheart activated the console - thank goodness for mysterious offscreen healing.

Legend
So, I've only two things left to do in Act 1: Auntie Ethel and Adamantine Forge. Found the Forge, got the pieces, just deciding what to make. Not sure how to deal with Ethel ... I couldn't go get through the door and backed up to an earlier save where I've yet to go into the valley. Would like to save the brothers, but I feel like that's impossible.

I really must stop letting people do things to my character's body. Between Volo and the priest of Loviator my character has some unique bonuses, but I'm not sure how much more he - or I - can take.
