[Black Company] I have the book...any questions?

She got great screen time, but all the circle members in general had less history (and less raw power) than the Ten..... there are individual write ups, then a new taken and old taken general template with any changes noted in the individuals description.

I think those changes I listed about Whisper definitely fit her flavor. My thought is, other than Lady, *most* of the Taken and powerful wizards are...set dressing. I think a ful write up would just take up space with repititious info, not all the Ten got full writeups either. Whisper did get three full paragraphs, the other Lady's Taken only got one paragraph each and the New Taken template. I think, if you wanted her tougher, just base her off the Old Taken stat block instead, but I personally think she works as written.

Tobo - 40 levels total, sounds pretty damn tough, the synergy of being a better fighter than the Captain and the other BC warrior types + 6 epic wizard levels.... I call it pretty fair.

Darling - Those stats are right before her naming... before she confronted Lady. Her Null field has a range at that time of 5120 feet...not quite a mile :-)

The White Rose thing is handled by a template, the null field grows in size with age. There is a full page writeup of the template. It is directly related tot he comet and of course suggested as a plot device, not a PC.

No spells cast in, magic items retain basic properties..sword is a sword..but lose magic.... she can possibly detect magic cast into the area... lots of stuff, a very detailed write up.

Whisper - Hmm. Only Soulcatcher and Limper got more screen time than Whisper (who was more than a match for any of the old Taken); I'm surprised she didn't merit a full write-up.

Togo - That seems a bit low, given the other write-ups.

Darling - How did they model Darling's null?

One last thing, very important to me.... the book has a serviceable 2 page INDEX!!! Makes lookups very easy.

Classes are not D20 Modern Style, no Fast Heroes or anything like that. There are 11 classes + a little thing on the glittering Stone and using classes from other worlds.

Sorry, i think you misunderstood. I meant the way the classes progress. Like I said, do they have bonus feats one level and talents/class abilities the next? Or do they have talent trees such as d20 Modern classes?

But thanks for the class and PrC list.

They have almost 3 full pages on the forvalaka, multiple stats and all that. Very very sweet! It is done as an inherited template. With full rules of creating your own.

The base example uses a 7th level Ranger. It gives human, hybrid and leopard form stats. The one in the book might even have had a vampire template or something like that added as well (Unlikely since it survive being crucified for days, in the open), skys the limit.

There are 22 entries in the bestiary section, some of them covering multiple types. The Toadkiller Dog is in there as well!!!

Do they have the glorious vampire leopards from the first few scenes?

The former, as I said, it is fantasy D20 not modern. No talent tree's.

However, Backgrounds all give 4 skill points that be spread around multiple skills (that vary per Background), these skills are all considered class skills for you as well. You also get abonus skill point every level to put in one of these "Background Skills" and you can increase them normally too as I understand it.

Hope this answers your question.

Thanks for the info again! I know I haven't read far enough to know about them (as I'm only on the Silver Spike) but are the gateways covered? Thanks Maester Luwin

By gates I am assuming you mean Glittering Stone....

It is well covered, the book goes into many "styles" of play. One is Glittering Stone, which sets up far more relaxed restrictions on what can come in to the game.

A couple of pages in that section and scattered bits throughout give more than enough. Really, all they have to do is present the basic mechanics, any other game sourcebook pretty much takes over from there. :-)
