Black Industries to produce DC Heroes RPG

Anybody catch the last line from the article linked on the front page? In the interview Chris states that GR has some exciting announcements and that one of them has to do with Superheroes - he is also avoiding any public comment.

At a minimum, I think GR has the deal but the lingering question is do they have it with M&M?

Yep, I read that and this was my fist thought. I really hope it ends up being M&M, that would make my day (hell, it'd make my year :) )!

If it is M&M then I am in line to buy a copy, if something else then I probably wouldn't bother.....

Just my opinion, and I already own at one of the previous versions.

I'm a DC comics fan, so I'm open to whatever direction this takes. I have the Blood of Heroes book and have intended to play some DCU games with the rules, but I'll give whatever GW comes up with a fair shake. It's usually good to play an "in print" game.

Someone earlier had mentioned GR desire to make each system fit the setting. While MnM can be used to create just about anything, I bet we will at the very least see a modified version of it, perhaps a standalone, if they use it with DC. I'd be happy with that.

On the other hand, I still think its likely that we will see some kind of independant system. Hopefully one that is, at first glance, better than the late Marvel RPG.

3 out of 4 of my group are really into comics, including me, and one has already expressed a desire to play in Starman's Opal City. Given how that particular series ended and the relative lack of development since then, I think its a great idea. I'd love to see them take the names of some of DCs Z-list characters and try and come up with a cool character to match it. I, of course, am already plotting. As i frequently do for games we will never play. So many games, so little time. Sigh.

God, M&M getting a DC sourcebook would be a huge win for the system, especially since you could now do the Nocturnals vs. the JLA fight all the kids are screaming for. OK, maybe it's just me is screaming for that. (And why isn't "Noir" in the EN Store?)

Meh. I don't see how DC Comics can make MnM more legitimate in the eyes of comic book fans (IMHO, shouldn't be fans of DC and Marvel if they're into comic book hobby).

I am having a dense moment - care to elaborate?

Meh. I think the folks at Hero Games got the right idea of not seeking out brand license to make their game popular or more appealing to the mainstream. It is already good on its own merit.

MnM is also good on its own merit. You don't need a Superman or Wonder Woman iconic game character to make it good.

P.S. I hope your "dense" condition is not chronic. You might need to seek professional help for that. ;)

No, but it'll sure help sell the game to DC Comic fans who don't play RPGs or are only casual/occasional gamers. Having the marketing power & money of DC comics working behind you can open up who worlds of advertising that you couldn't get otherwise. You don't need an iconic character to sell to gamers, but you probably do need one to sell it to the guy who hasn't picked up an RPG since the Marvel and DC games went off the market.
