Interesting, if disappointing, news. It sounds like Black Isle was working on a third game in the Baldur's Gate series, but it did not continue the Bhaalspawn storyline. Rather, it was an entirely new story set in the Dalelands. It's unlikely that the game will ever see the light of day, as it has been postponed indefinately due to liscencing issues.

Too bad.

I just like that they codename their projects after US presidents... even if it is rumored their next project (Van Buren) is Fallout 3.

Still, I hope they can gain back rights to publish the game - according to the post the game was only about a year away from being finished. It seems a shame for that to just be sitting there, nothing being done on it.

Well, as a fanboy, I'll nitpick.

BIS is a different company from Bioware, which did the Baldur's Gate PC series.

Black Isle Studios could have been working on a BG title, but we'll never know the truth, at least not soon.

Bishop, aka Josh Sawyer is leaving, actually by now has left BIS, Black Isle Studios, for whatever reasons we'll learn maybe in the future. This bodes ill, in my opinion, for any DnD based PC games, or RPG's from BIS.

Well, perhaps they will move on and do something besides a FR setting. Perhaps they will do Dragonlance or some other 'known' setting or one based on their own using 3.5 rules instead. Look at how Warcraft did - started the game 1st, then came out with the RPG follow-up. Both are pretty good IMO.

Good news as far as BG is concerned, not only did Bioware develop the series, but the storyline was finished. So BIS making another game with that name would have been nothing but trying to make money off the name.
