Blackguard build advice.

Hi all:

We're starting a new campaign. I am looking for advice on an effective Blackguard build. The problem is that Paladin-style classes are accretive: stuff-per-level (lay on hands, smite evil) makes it really tough to make Blackguards effective, since they are a prestige class. You lose six levels of "stuff per level." Oy.

For a number of reasons, the whole "fallen Paladin" business may work, but it may not. Are there other base classes that chain well to Blackguard? Has anyone tried any of the Unearthed Arcana stuff chained to Blackguard?

Hexblade, knight, and crusader are three good classes that mesh well with blackguard since they all work of off charisma. Trading in paladin levels for blackguard levels isn't too bad ,if you've got a lot of levels to trade.

Well, the fallen Paladin stuff rocks for a blackguard... fighter class with full BAB and sneak attack, love it. Hexblade is cool too and they love the aura...
