Blood and Fists news

So I took a little break from Modern stuff to do this King Arthur game, which I am happy to say was well-received by everyone. However, some people asked me what my next modern project was going to be and when it was going to appear.

Since I now have one of those answers, I thought I would share.

I just finished a revision of Blood and Fists, correcting the minor issues with the game. The number of new skills has been reduced from three to one, blocking as gotten a revision, and the way some of the maneuvers work has been tweaked and/or clarified.

This is done, and you will have the results as soon as we have a break in our release schedule.

I did this because (and indeed as a part of) the writing of my next book, Blood and Fists II: Hong Kong Knights.

It's going to have more styles, more classes, more maneuvers (especially more signature maneuvers), and will also expand the range of options for styles, stylists, and masters.

Update over, go back to what you were doing :)

Chuck,

will these revisions/clarifications be made available online for owners of the print version?

Thanks,

Vig, you just made my day.

You made my day yesterday, too...I just downloaded Blood and Guts, and spent all day statting out some sample characters. Great stuff...I'll be hitting you with some questions and comments at some point.

Let's see...I'd wager Zen Mastery and Pressure Points are on their way out, since both are rather narrow skills compared to Meditation.

Actually- Meditation and Zen Mastery were folded into Concentration. Pressure Points is very narrow... but I like the way it works.

What, no new classes guess? lol

Thanks,

If you buy a print book, you can get the pdf for free. Just email me off forum and tell me where you bought the book.

Suits me fine.

I dunno about classes...the Martial Arts Master covers a lot of ground. Maybe a Gun Fu class?

As for styles, however...Krav Maga, Wrestling [including Professional and Greco-Roman, plus a generic style to represent the countless regional wrestling styles], Brazilian Ju Jitsu and/or Submission Fighting...those would all be nice.

This would be really awesome!

There is one caveat, though: I had strongly considered on buying it from the German online shop www.dragonworld.de. (As I can't buy the pdf online [which I would have preferred], I planned on getting the print version.)

Heh. Yes the update will be free. I think for the most part the changes will be hard for people to pick out unless they compare the books page by page. I dont think anything in BNF was broken, so I didnt have to fix anything.

However, I think blocking conforms a little more closely to the way most GMs run combat, and reducing the number of skills is probably the #1 thing people mention about wanting in the game.

What about those of us who bought the PDF? Will we also be getting a copy of the update? I'm anxiously awaiting part two as well ;)

I agree the Martial Arts Master covers a lot of ground. Its one of the things I like best about BNF.

On the styles, everything on your list is on mine except Professional Wrestling. I think if professional wrestling were "real" I would run it as School of Hard Knocks+ Improvised Weapon proficiency. As it is I would run it as Perform (stunt fighting).

To whet your appetite however, BNF II will also include a completely new type of martial arts style, and a completely new kind of maneuver.
