I would have to go through my friend's extensive library in order to track it down, although I have some suspicions that it may be from Unearthed Arcana. Or it may just be from a WotC web exerpt... :heh:

The tidbit that was had from below the half-way point was IIRC: the condition 'clobbered' where you only gain 1 standard action every round until receiving some healing which would bring your hp over this half-way point.

If the above is true, then it may have been the granddaddy idea that eventually spawned the condition 'bloodied'....a condition system which I think is both simple (compared to SW SAGA system's condition track as previously pointed out) and at the same time brilliant (it creates a whole new set of situations that the designers can tinker with thereby adding a rather nouveau and lively dimension to combat).

Hard to make a vote, and right now my opinion isn't represented by any of the poll's options. I don't think the mechanic isn't good or bad per se: when we have more information about the rule, how is it implemented and used, we'll know if it's good or bad.

I will go on record as saying I dont think "Bloodied" is actually half HP but rather a condition on thier damage track. Perhaps when you suffer X amount of damage from a single blow?

I voted bad because to me it looks like that there will be a whole set of abilities which will be only usable when you are bloodied. So sooner or later, probably after some splatbooks, we will see PCs which want to be in the bloodied condition (or 1 hp above it) so they can use their super powerful combo.
