Book of Exalted Deed : Mature ?

My guess is, someone cut and paste from "Book of Vile Darkness" and forgot to delete the parenthesis at the back. :D

Of course, I could be wrong.

I agree with this. still not sure what will be 'mature' about the BoED though...

Maybe it gets a mature sticker to boost sales. :) I mean remember all the hoopla around here when BoVD was being talked about and how it was gonna be "mature"

I mean it didnt hurt the BoVD and in the end to have a "mature" rating and it wasn't really that vile (just "fluffier" descriptions in spells and stuff....but not really that vile in the end).

Is it possible that it might go into some of the more adult aspects of "good" religions, such as fertility rituals and such. Take away the PC's and the backdrop of most dnd worlds is a farming society and that sort of religion would be important to the people.

Safety Net.

If someone ends up whining about WoTC trying to teach religion or some other crud to their poor impressionable children WoTC can use the Mature label as a shield.

And good for them if they do.

Also, maybe they intend for mature to mean just that. Mature. As in for a more experienced and savvy audience.

Boobies and Blood by themselves a mature title do not make, although they are entertaining.

In my world (as in: the way I see things) mature conotates such things as graphic material, realistic violence, heavy religious themes, political machinations and underhanded tactics, and many other "real-life" situations that may come up in a game.

If I were to buy a book that focused only on an indepth discussion of various topics of what can be good, I would consider that mature.

Because now, as an adult, I care about such things. When I was twelve, all I cared about were how many orcs were behind the door (and occasionally Boobies and Blood), but nonetheless I was certainly immature at that time.

One thing that you can be almost certain of is that there won't be any over-reactive chowderheads referring to it as terrorism.

That dealt with, I don't think Celebacy belongs in the BoVD. A lot of cultures relate reproductive fluids to the soul's ability to create (Hindu is big on this), so the retention of these fluids could easily be associated to things like Conjuration [Creation] spells, Metacreative Psionics, and other such magics.

Mea culpa here. In my haste, I forgot to add my little ;) in my celibacy - BoVD quip. See, haste is broken...

-Fletch!

in most of the published settings:

the goddess of fertility is good

the goddess of passion is good

the god of fun should be good

so taking these as examples. i can think of several areas that would be considered mature in their rites and rituals.

X-tasy. not just fan-tasy.:D

pure bliss and harmony...
