Bow for small size

First Post
I have a gnome in my group and he want to use a bow, but there are no bows size small. Has anyone made stats for one ?

I was thinking something like:

Small shortbow, 20gp, damage 1d4+1, critical x3, range increment 40ft. , weight 2 lb, piercing

What do you think ?

You don't need to make a new type of bow... a Small character can use a Medium-sized weapon with no problem. They just have to use both hands to wield it, which you have to do to fire a bow anyway.

So he should just use a regular shortbow.

If however, you did want to make a small shortbow, the weapon would be identical except the damage would be 1d4 and it's size would be Small. Same crit range, same range increment. It would also allow you to use the bow if you are mounted (wow, that sounds bad), which you wouldn't be able to do with a normal sized shortbow.

Though a Composite Shortbow would do the same and still allow your Gnome to use it--keeping the normal damage. I recomend that if you plan to be riding or just have a little extra GP you're willing to spend in order to be prepared.

Huh? The composite shortbow is too big for him to use while riding.

EDIT: Ah, nevermind. Good point there. :o :)

Long bows and Comp. Long bows are really very different in size. The description of Comp. Long bows does not say you can't use it while mounted, as the Long bow does. Seriously, what Knight would use a shortbow?!

Edit: Cool, I was hoping I wasn't crazy!
