yes, it is too good too be true

the only downside is the spell trigger activation (a standard action), so no attacks that round (without haste)

Is that the thing that allows True Strike at will? I agree, for the listed price it is quite b0rken.

bahh it's not broken. You can only shoot it every other round.
Or with haste once per round...whats broken with that? Only spellcaster, or rogues can use it....
For low to mid level characters it's a nice fun tool but at higher levels it's a waste of time. (You get only one true arrow!)
I think it's a pretty weapon for wizards who want to pull of a show against the party archer....showing him is *skills*.
It's also pretty when your mage is outa spells to have a nice backup.

First of the item is spell trigger which means it is used like a wand, one has to have True Strike on his spell list to use. Second, it takes a standard action to use. So, round one activate bow, round two fire with true strike only active on your first attack.

An arrow that always hit's that can be used every other round? Use a magic missile for chrissakes! Usable every round and more damage, depending on caster level.

That bow was made for assasinations and fast assaults. You use it with poison, and it works as an excellent delivery system. Or use it with fire arrows, and set a structure on fire.

 You need a Bow of True Strike to set a structure on fire?! Geez-if you can't hit the broad side of a barn, just stay away from the missile weapons. :D

Seriously, the former is exactly what I thought of when I saw the item. To make absolutely sure that that first arrow hits as you leap from hiding, and gives you the sneak attack + flaming arrow + poison damage ... But you wouldn't generally be messing with the True Strike power in combat, you'd rather be raining a bunch of arrows and take your chances than shooting one arrow every other round that's virtually certain to hit.

Ha! I meant from a very long distance...like from a hill overlooking a walled keep, or into the window of a stone or brick structure with a wooden or heavily-fabriced interior.

Another good use in in combination with the Shrink Item spell. You Shrink Item on an object like a pool of alchemist fire, using the cloth form of the spell. You tie the cloth piece of alchemist-fire to the end of the arrow, and when it impacts a solid surface (like your enemies head), BOOM!

And then there are the obvious arrows of slaying...
