Bracers of armor and studded leather +2 help me !!

First Post
I have another question ( please note is a 3.0 campaign )

a rogue has a studded leather +2 and has recently acquired a pair of bracers of armor +4 . He says that if he wears both , the +2 enhancement bonus of the studded leather stacks with the +4 armor bonus of the bracers .
It is true ? Dexterity aside , he improves id AC of 1 ??

Thank you for the response .

No, it would not stack.

The +2 of the studded leather enhances the studded leather. Therefore, it improves the armor bonus granted by the studded leather armor. The bracers provide an armor bonus, so the two would not stack.

No, it's not true. The +2 enhancement merely increases the studded leather armor "armor bonus" from +3 to +5. This armor bonus does not stack with the bracers.

An "enhancement bonus" is NOT a type of bonus - it's merely an enhancement to the underyling bonus - armor, in this case.

So, no they don't stack.

No. If you have armor with a +1 enhancement bonus and cast a spell that gives a +2 enhancement bonus to your armor, you end up with: +2 to your armor bonus. They don't stack. Sim

As Said.

No they don't stack. Whichever is better is what his AC is.

The only reason to use Bracers of Armor with Normal Armor, is that the Bracers AC Bonus works against Incorporeal Touch Attacks, which ignore most forms of Armor.

For Instance, I've got an old 12th level Fighter that has a +4 Breastplate and Bracers of Armor +1. He took the Bracers since no one else wanted them. Acutually saved his rear when he was attacked by wraiths.

So wearing Bracers AND Armor provides some additonal protection, but that protection is from a rare and unusual source (Incorporeal Touch Attacks).

I did not say that.

Perhaps I should rephrase.

Enhancement bonus are a sepcail type of bonus, They don't stack with each other as normal, but they also don't really count like other bonus types, they actually modify the underlying bonus/item so that the two bonuses at issue here do not stack.

In other words, they are inexorably linked to the thing they are enhancing. In this case, the leather armor is enhanced, as opposed to the character having a stackable ehancement bonus to armor.

Artoomis,

Are you trying to say that the Enhancement bonus isn't a bonus to armour class, it's a bonus to Armour bonus provided by the armour?

If so, then I agree. If not, then what are you trying to say?

glass.
